In Part 2, I’ll show you inside Pavillon Kalon, the space where our contemporary designs meet this ancient tradition.

Part I: The Archive

Behind the restored 19th-century brickwork of Tashkent’s ancient center lies a physical archive of cultural memory. This is Zanmakon (@zanmakon )—an independent museum and cultural hub founded and curated entirely by women.

From heavily embroidered traditional garments to the sudden appearance of typewriters and radios, the space traces the shifting status and quiet revolution of the Uzbek woman through the exact artifacts she left behind. For BBSR, studying these physical archives is a vital part of the research process. It is an exploration of how regional visual codes and disciplined craftsmanship form the foundation for contemporary design.

But preserving the past is only half the story. This is the first chapter in a broader exploration of Uzbekistan through the intersection of cultural memory and modern brands.

Just through the wall of this museum lies a space where this historical energy is actively translated into the present. Part II—the boutique, the contemporary synthesis, and our brand’s place within it—is next.

Светлого праздника Наурыз! В этот особенный день мы рады наконец представить нашу новую и очень теплую коллаборацию с Nutella.

В этом видео историю создания нашего совместного проекта рассказывает Ая — художница, разработавшая дизайн тарелки. Для нее это первый в жизни опыт перед камерой (обычно она предпочитает творить за кадром и очень волновалась), так что прошу любить и жаловать!

В основу визуального решения легла красивая и глубокая традиция «Көрісу», которую бережно хранит семья Аи на западе Казахстана. В то время как во многих регионах этот обычай стирается из памяти, там с 14 марта люди по-прежнему навещают друг друга со словами «Бір жасыңмен!», искренне радуясь благополучному завершению зимы.

Нашей главной задачей было взять исходный, сакральный визуальный код — с его живыми, милыми и «неидеальными» линиями ручной вышивки тускииза — и бережно перенести его в современность. Мы хотели создать не просто мерч, а вещь с подлинной историей, которую захочется вынести гостям на праздничный дастархан.
