Some colour studies done around the same time last year in Ivry just before spring, when the air got smoother and the nights became hospitable again
Been woken up by honks of geese the last couple of days

Introducing Benjamin Blanc (b. 2000) @bbenjaminblanc , a French artist raised between Paris and London.

Benjamin plays with the logistic tensions of figuration within the confines of interior spaces. A gap formed by a hand resting on a hip creates a vacuum, a limp wrist lingers, a tie tries to fly off a collar.

He investigates friction - or its absence - between bodies, while negotiating the organic properties of the medium, oscillating between malleability and stiffness.

Drawing from art-historical representations of the grotesque, as well as body-aware processes, his work invites viewers into fictitious glimpses of scenes. Figures are either caught mid-gesture or still. Benjamin chooses these transitional spaces to explore the area between instant and event.

Artwork list:

1. Compromise in Brine, 2026. Oil on canvas, 50 x 45 cm

2. Balsamic Sleep, 2026. Oil on canvas, 50 x 45 cm

3. Looking Smart, 2025. Oil on canvas, 70 x 60 cm

4. Dust Collectors, 2025. Oil on canvas, 50 x 45 cm
