We celebrated the 15th annual Lunar New Year and Black History Month joint celebration organized by Bayview YMCA and Community Youth Center of San Francisco this month. Since NBF first started, we've been a proud sponsor of this event in Bayview Hunters Point and have kept our tradition of bringing Asian and Black communities together to appreciate our cultures, history, and identities! Each year, we hold this event with the understanding that our oppressions are indeed linked - but we are connected in much more than what we’ve overcome.

Racial solidarity is the only way we can hope to achieve collective liberation and events like this aid in strengthening the trust and respect we have with each other. At NBF, we’re committed to building strong relationships between AAHNPI communities and organizations like our partners Bayview YMCA (@bayviewymca) and
Community Youth Center of San Francisco (@cyc_sf) to continue deepening these ties. It is only when we truly come together in consistent unity, that we will have a chance at experiencing the freedoms we all deserve.

The Hub was filled with laughter, good food, flowers, and something a lot of mothers rarely get… a moment to simply pause.

The Sunnydale-Visitacion Valley Collaborative, a collective community based organizations, came together at @thehubinsf to celebrate the mothers in this community and create space for them to be cared for too.

There was a beautiful moment during the event where the room got quiet. Eyes closed. Hands on hearts. Nothing to do. Nothing to fix. No one to take care of for a few minutes. Just a chance to breathe, relax, and receive.

Moments like this matter.
