Born from the transformative experience of motherhood during Covid, when I noticed I was suddenly animal. My body morphed and provided, in an act of blind servitude and quiet devotion. I returned, momentarily, to cycles and seasons — through naps and breastfeeds — writing this music in any spare moment I could, methodically mapping out the experience of having my mind slowly blown by something so seemingly common. I was suddenly reconnected to every living, conscious being, and it hurt with its profundity. I cried and cried because I was alive. I was vulnerable. I was tapped into the potent mother energy, and I was outraged. A more potent, heightened archetype of the aspects of myself that are a mother was waking up, an overarching matriarchal force that I wanted to envelop people in. I named her The Motherwitch because she, unlike I, represents a universal force. One we can all tap into.

Aries Season ♈︎ Card of the Month: Garden Jester

Under the watchful eye of two crescent moons, the naked garden jester carries a jug of stars and flings seeds and
flowers at everyone and everything. Our Green Patron Saint of Humour laughs a jolly “ho ho” at all that life throws her way. Her headdress is imbued with hearts and foliage. Calla lilies and angel’s trumpets sing choral ditties as the jester prances and dances. A string of medicinal echinacea flowers falls out of her cosmic jug, and lightning bolts shoot hearts out of her fingers.

This card is a celebration of life’s ironies and supposed mistakes. It is an encouragement to move with humour and joy when things don’t appear to be going your way! In a universe of magic, there are never true mistakes, only seeds of growth. There is always a time to laugh, to learn, to celebrate and be the jester in the serious court of life.
