One of my favorite things as a creative/film director is building a world in collaboration with an artist that knows exactly what they’re trying to do. Audrey came to me with a Pinterest board and a vision for how to bring Snowcaps to the world well before she had even finished tracking the song. Bringing @chrishaggertydp and @_m1ck3y_y3kc1m_ on board to realize Audrey’s concepts/ my treatment couldn’t have been a better decision. With very little resources, we aligned around a few elements in a way that created magic. In the edit, I was trusted to remix the song myself to create a trailer as a sort of threshold introduction… a prelude to Audrey’s story of being stranded and abandoned in snowy mountain forestland, and yet undeterred… neither defeated nor hardened by disappointment and loss. What I’m saying is that I was there for every step of the sausage being made on this campaign and yet when I watch and listen to what we made, it remains magical and mysterious to me. That’s the thing I strive for EVERY time I make something. For the sum of the parts and people who come together to amount to something more than any of us can quite account for. This is a special one. I’m marking it down. Then… Onward. There’s more magic yet to uncover in this world of hope and disappointment and hope beyond hope.
