We recommend a visit to The Joy of Making at the @artworkersguild in London this weekend, where artist and illustrator Nicolas Hughes @nick_qs will be exhibiting his handmade wallpapers alongside the original hand-carved blocks, tools and studio ephemera behind his process.

We’re delighted that Nicolas will also be leading a hands-on workshop at David Parr House on Saturday 23 May. Participants will spend the day designing and printing their own repeat patterns through drawing, carving and experimentation.

Nicolas’ work combines storytelling, drawing and craftsmanship, creating hand-printed wallpapers that feel both contemporary and rooted in tradition. His papers have appeared in homes and hotels internationally, and his work has been recognised by House & Garden, Country Living and the Michelangelo Foundation’s Homo Faber Guide.

This beginner-friendly workshop includes all materials, lunch from Norfolk Street Bakery and a glimpse inside the richly decorated interiors of David Parr House for inspiration. Book your place now via link in bio 🔗

Sean has been making bespoke pieces of furniture from his workshop in the beautiful Kent countryside since 2020. Each piece he makes is a testament to his commitment to quality, combining traditional woodworking techniques with innovative design and technology.

During @londoncraftweek at the Guild, Sean will be exhibiting his Hawthorn chair; crafted from ash, it’s standout feature is the continuous bent lamination that seamlessly forms both the back and armrests, offering aesthetic elegance and ergonomic support. Also on show will be his Two-log table; crafted from rich walnut and warm oak, the beautiful end-grain growth rings flow between both species, highlighting the unique grain patterns and colours.

Exhibition times:
Saturday 16 May 11am - 5pm
Sunday 17 May 11am - 4pm

Ruup & Form is delighted to welcome members of the Art Workers’ Guild to the gallery for a special invitation-only brunch, set within Of the Rubble (rudera).

Founded in 1884, the Guild continues to hold space for a remarkable community of artists, craftspeople, architects and thinkers, each committed to the evolving language of the visual arts. This gathering holds particular resonance, shaped by Bridget Harvey’s own membership within the Art Workers’ Guild, and the shared ethos that underpins both her practice and the Guild’s enduring commitment to material-led inquiry.

We look forward to holding space for a thoughtful convergence of community, practice and conversation.

Strictly by invitation only. 8 May, 11 am to 1 pm
