Impressions of Jaywick 🌊

This video was created as part of a one-week residency in the coastal village of Jaywick (Essex, UK). I spent my time drawing and gathering treasures washed up along the shores of Jaywick, including sea potatoes, whelk eggs, shells, and seaweed, while also noticing many pieces of washed up plastic. I photographed these objects and started dissecting them digitally, finally creating this video.

Today, MAAS (Year 1) visited Alice Holt Research Forest @aliceholtforest.
“Forest Research is internationally renowned for the provision of science, research, evidence, data and services in support of sustainable forestry.”

We explored its distinctive geology, south-east England climate and history, to understand how this ancient woodland supports modern research.
It was inspiring to see and learn about adapting new technology, techniques, and approaches to gathering data.
Huge thanks to the staff at Alice Holt for such informative sessions and to our tutors for organising a great day.

Oxygenation series - this is what I imagine respiratory distress to look like in the lungs a trauma I witnessed only too often as my daughter fought to breathe and eat.
