Friday Flashback to one of the most intense scenes I have shot…from Gangaajal (released in 2003)

Directed by the brilliant Prakash Jha sir, the film explored power, politics and the blurred line between justice and revenge with rare realism. Wonderful experience working alongside Ajay Devgn, Gracy Singh and such powerful actors like Yashpal Sharma, Mukesh Tiwari, Chetan Pandit, Mohan Joshi, Ayub Khan , Akhilender Mishra and Mohan Agashe

This particular lock-up sequence was shot on steadicam in a single take ,raw, tense and full of nervous energy. Moments like these remind you why some films stay with people for years.

Grateful to have been a part of this cult film.

आठ साल के इंतज़ार के बाद, आज ये सुकून भरी सुबह आई है। इतनी बातें हैं करने को, क्या कहूँ, क्या ना कहूँ — इसी कश्मकश में हूँ। फिर सोचा, वो कहानी सुनाती हूँ जिसे लिखते वक़्त मैंने तुम्हें बहुत याद किया था।

मैं कहानी सुनाने तो बैठी, ये मानो जैसे कहानी सुन नहीं रहे थे, देख रहे थे। कभी मुझे देखते, कभी उन यादों को जो अब अल्फ़ाज़ बन गए थे। कभी कनखियों से ताकते, कभी एक हल्की सी शरारत से छेड़ते थे। हर बार मुझे यूँ ही हँसा देते।

आठ साल बाद, हम हर पल, हर बीतता लम्हा साथ जी रहे थे। और इस बार उँगलियों ने, हाथों ने, एक-दूसरे को ऐसे थाम लिया था, जैसे अब कभी नहीं छोड़ेंगे। कभी नहीं बिछड़ेंगे। कभी नहीं।

Purane dost ka ek aur naya venture ❤️
I still remember the days when Alim was starting out… full of passion, dreams, and complete dedication towards his craft.

Hum dono bhi uss waqt apni apni journey ke ek naye phase mein the. I met him through the legendary photographer Jagdish Mali, and even back then, there was something special about Alim,his focus, his creativity, and the sincerity with which he worked.

Over the years, seeing him grow into one of India’s most celebrated hairstylists has genuinely been inspiring. Some people’s success makes you truly happy because you know how much hard work, patience, consistency and passion has gone into that journey… aur unki growth bilkul well deserved lagti hai.

And now seeing you create something beyond hairstyling with OPIUM Eyewear’s “THE CUT” feels wonderful. The whole thought behind the collection , lindividuality, confidence and self-expression,reflects your personality so perfectly.

ThursdayThrowback to the beginning of my journey on the big screen…A scene from Godmother (1999), my debut film, and an opportunity to share screen space with the incredible Shabana Azmi very early in my career.
Looking back today, I realise how fortunate I was to begin my journey surrounded by some of the finest names in Indian cinema. The film was written and directed by Vinay Shukla, with music by Vishal Bhardwaj, lyrics by Javed Akhtar, cinematography by Rajan Kothari, editing by the legendary Renu Saluja, and costume design by Mandira Shukla.

The film went on to receive multiple National Awards, including Best Hindi Feature Film, Best Actress, Best Editing, Best Music Direction and Best Lyrics.

At that time, I was simply trying to do justice to my scenes. Today, when I revisit these moments, I see memories, learning, gratitude and the first step of a journey that continues even today. Some beginnings remain special forever. ❤️

Papa and Pankaj ji shared a long and beautiful association. Back in 1985, Jawab, starring Papa, Smita ji and directed by Ravi Tandon ji, brought together a rare musical moment where both Pankaj Udhas ji and Manhar Udhas ji lent their voices for the same actor, Papa (Raj Babbar). Pankaj ji’s beautiful song Mitwa Re Mitwa, Purab Na Jaiyo, Paschim Na Jaiyo, Mere Dil Mein Rahiyo remains one of my most favourite songs. 🎶

It was such an honour to be present on the 75th birth anniversary of Padma Bhushan Pankaj Udhas ji and witness the inauguration of the chowk in his name. It was deeply moving to see the entire family and so many members of the music fraternity come together to honour a legend whose velvet voice touched generations. 🙏🏼

What I truly loved about the beautiful mural at the chowk was the thoughtful QR code that, when scanned, takes one through Pankaj ji’s extraordinary musical journey, a timeless tribute to a timeless artiste💫

The evening continued with a soulful musical gathering at the residence where Suresh Wadkar ji, Jaswinder Narula ji and Udit Narayan ji paid their heartfelt musical tribute to Pankaj ji. The one who truly lit up the evening was Sonu Nigam ji, who chose a lighter, happier ghazal of Pankaj ji and brought a smile to Farida ji’s face, a moment filled with warmth and love.💕

My heart went out to Farida ji, Nayaab and Reva. For them, this day must have been one of immense pride, yet filled with immeasurable grief. Thank you for making us a part of such an important and emotional day in your lives. 🙏🏼

The velvet voice of India, Pankaj Udhas ji, will forever live in our hearts. ❤️
