In the spirit of individual expression, the song cycle is followed by remixes of each song, each created by a different queer artist: Phong Tran, Darian Donovan Thomas, and No Plexus and celebrating their unique voices through their own performances, composing, and production. 🌈💕

New from @adhyaroparecords — Gay All This Time, the new EP of @annikasoco’s new country persona @emmyjeanjenkins, was released today as a CD or DD at the Bandcamp link in bio and story and is streaming everywhere. Collaborating closely with the @frictionquartet, Jenkins delivers a trilogy of queer Americana anthems inspired by 70s classic country. This project serves as the bold, fun introduction of a fresh artist entity, formed by a long-time established classical composer. “She’s very much based off of my upbringing and parts of myself that maybe I haven’t had a chance to fully explore,” Socolofsky says. “With this project, I really just wanted a joyous place to not take myself seriously, even to be campy. Having an alter ego gave me license not to take myself too seriously while still discussing serious topics.”

@adhyaroparecords is thrilled to announce Gay All This Time, the new EP of Annika Socolofsky’s new country persona @emmyjeanjenkins, now available for preorder as a CD or DD from the Bandcamp link in bio and story.

Through collaboration with the @frictionquartet, Jenkins delivers a trilogy of queer Americana anthems inspired by 70s classic country. This project serves as the bold, fun introduction of a fresh artist entity, formed by a long-time established classical composer. She is also joined by producer @snyderphonics on pedal steel, Chris Sies on drums, @morganharrisguitar on guitar, and the CU Boulder University Choir. The first single is streaming everywhere and the album will be released in full on April 24th.

“She’s very much based off of my upbringing and parts of myself that maybe I haven’t had a chance to fully explore,” Socolofsky says. Finding success as a professor of music and classical composer at @cubouldermusic, Socolofsky found that everyone must take themselves seriously to thrive in musical academia. The unintended cost of said excellence is losing the ability to let go and have fun with music making, for which she directly challenged in this project. “Contemporary classical musicians take themselves so seriously all the time! With this project, I really just wanted a joyous place to not take myself seriously, even to be campy. Having an alter ego gave me license not to take myself too seriously while still discussing serious topics.”

The piece is a little bit classical and a lot bit country-pop, and features folk musicians from across Colorado’s Front Range. Expect a gentle* needling of the patriarchy. With Trace Hybertson (fiddle), Ilan Blanck (guitar), Isele Phoenix Harper (keys), and Nicole Patrick (drums) at Boulder’s eTown Hall.

And if you can’t make it to Boulder, fear not! We’ll be stopping in Denver and Arvada, too.
