I’ve been wearing oversized clothes for years—and yes, very much on purpose.

This is how I see it: I am 50, and this is my body.

She is changing. And honestly, I think it’s completely normal for a body to change over the years. It gets older, wiser, more lived in.

I accept that I’m in peri-menopause. (Still am, by the way… my period started yesterday, just a few days after I posted about throwing myself a menopause party after making it a year without one. So yes… the countdown has officially started all over again. 😅)

About a year ago, I started HRT. It helps regulate my symptoms. I sleep better, feel better, and function better. To me, that’s worth the approximately 9 kilos I’ve gained along the way.

I’m embracing myself.

I take care of myself.
I exercise.
I eat reasonably healthy.
I sleep like a rose.

And I also believe it’s important that we normalize the fact that female bodies change with age.

Not just because of peri-menopause, but because hormones impact women’s bodies throughout life. Pregnancy changes the body. Aging changes the body. Life changes the body.

And there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that.

The problem is that we are constantly bombarded with images of perfection that distort our sense of reality. Especially when it comes to women’s bodies. And faces, by the way. There is a lot of fake around and now we are also starting to compare ourselves to ai models…

So many women walk around believing their changing body is somehow failing, when actually it’s simply doing what bodies do: living, adapting, aging, carrying us through life.

This body is not wrong.
It is human.

I love watching fashion influencers throw together a million different pieces into one incredible outfit. But me? I think I’m more of an easy dresser… and definitely a comfy dresser.

Nothing too tight, nothing too complicated. I never wear belts, I think I own one for the rare occasion, but honestly, I hate dealing with belts every time I need to use the toilet. 😂

And shoes? Absolutely not if they hurt. Heels, tight pointy pumps, sandals with straps attacking my tiny toes… no thank you. I simply don’t think it’s worth it.

So yes, maybe I’m just a lazy fashionista. 💙

Someone commented on a reel I posted earlier this week: “Do you have something to hide? You must be hiding something underneath those big outfits.” Clearly she hasn’t been following me long enough to have seen me standing here in my underwear on a regular basis. 😂

Anyway… we all have our own style, our own preferences, our own way of dressing. I respect other people’s choices, negative comments, not so much though.

And honestly, how inspiring is it that we all get to dress like unique individuals?

The moment I realized he’s actually really close to having a six pack. Haha.

Back in January, Martin said to me, “I’m going to lose 15 kilos and I want a six pack.” I always have to laugh a little because he says this every single year, gives up the moment the first rays of spring sunshine appear, and then somehow ends up gaining quite a bit instead…

But this year is different. He’s really sticking with it and honestly, it looks like he’s going to make it. Lots, and I mean lots, of workouts, walking, healthy eating, and of course I’ve been joining in moderately since January too. I just don’t necessarily need the six pack… or maybe I do… haha.

Anyway, I had to tease him a little because he’s obviously incredibly proud, and rightly so at 56. This level of discipline deserves applause if you ask me.

Do you remember the moment you stopped apologising for who you are?

For me, it was becoming a mother at 40.
By the time Finn arrived, I had already lived a whole life. I knew who I was. And suddenly, holding him, I realised I couldn’t teach him to be brave if I was still hiding. I couldn’t teach him to take up space if I was still making myself small.

Having a child at 40 didn’t just make me a mother. It gave me the final push I needed to drop the act. To stop shrinking to make others comfortable. To just be me, loud, flawed, and completely unapologetic.

It was the end of my shrinking. And the beginning of my blooming.

You don’t have to dim your light for others. There is plenty of room for all of us to shine bright.

Whenever I look at another woman, I always see something beautiful. ✨

It could be her style, the way she holds herself, or just the energy she brings into a room. I can love her outfit even if it’s not for me, simply because it is so perfectly her.

I think the older we get, the more we realize that another woman’s uniqueness doesn’t threaten our own. We don’t have to dress the same, think the same, or live the same lives to admire each other.

And on the days when I catch myself thinking, “I want to be like her”? I don’t let it turn into jealousy. I let it turn into inspiration. I find a way to take that spark and make it my own. 🥀
