Join Anakbayan UCI & Anaheim’s Pambansang Demokratikong Paaralan (PADEPA), or National Democratic School! The curriculum for PADEPA includes 3 courses: Philippine Society and Revolution (PSR), Espesyal na Kursong Masa (ESKUM), and Araling Aktibista (ARAK). Here, we learn about Philippine history and the 3 basic problems of Philippine society, how they affect different sectors, and what we can do! As the material builds on itself, all prospective students are REQUIRED to complete PSR before proceeding with ESKUM and ARAK.

It is strongly encouraged to attend ALL three days of instruction!

This week, GKN Aerospace's chemical disaster displaced 50,000 residents from their home. Leaving many residents unhoused, and with many questions about the war manufacturer's current and long term impacts on the residential neighborhoods, our environment, and our community health. Yesterday, on May 28th our members joined Orange County residents to oppose GKN's war profiteering and presence in working class communities.

GKN Aerospace has a long history of safety violations but Orange County has allowed them to continue operating, just blocks away from elementary and high schools, with toxic chemicals like MMA. GKN makes billions in profit annually from war, and the US and Orange County has allowed them to cut corners - impacting the safety of workers and families. We demand accountability!

On May 26, Anakbayan Anaheim, Anakbayan UCI, and Migrante Anaheim held a town hall at Irvine United Congregational Churchwhere over 100 community members and organizers came to together to discuss the situation on the ground and what next steps we can take.

Join us tomorrow to learn about the devastating effects ofweapons manufacturer GKN Aerospace’s chemical leak in Garden Grove, and what we can do to take up the fight in defense of our communities.

On Tuesday, May 26, members of Kabataan Alliance including @kabaatuci and @anakbayanuci mobilized to Garden Grove City Council to address their concerns over the recent chemical leak caused by GKN Aerospace, a manufacturing company that helps produce fighter jets and other technology used in war and surveillance, both here in the US and abroad. Due to years of GKN neglecting safety protocols to jack up its own profit, the resulting chemical leak displaced over 40,000 residents in Orange County. These are their voices.

Filipino youth raise the demands of the community for relief, transparency, and accountability! Though the evacuation order has now been lifted, it is clear that not enough information has been released on the long term health and environmental impacts of the chemical exposure— impacts that the people themselves will have to pay for while GKN Aerospace can continue to operate unsafely and put thousands of lives at risk. The youth see that, time and time again, companies such as GKN continue to get away with threatening our futures, families, and environment. We say enough is enough!

As STEM students, we want our education to serve our communities - to improve services for the environment and health. But GKN Aerospace a weapons manufacturer has cut corners to increase its profits, and despite their numerous safety violations over the years Orange County has allowed them to continue operating in working class neighborhoods. GKN needs to be held accountable for its impacts, and we need to come together to address the wellbeing and health of our Orange County neighbors.
