DC trip sketch burns - in my @accdistrict Visual Communication classes I teach I encourage a daily sketch practice of a 4-5 minute observational sketch. Using bold strokes and forbidding erasing it relieves the expectations of the artist in regards to outcomes and allows them to embrace the process of seeing the world and capturing it on paper. It's a great alternative to doom scrolling.

In my basic illustration class we are working on perspective, so I tried to mix it up a bit and capture some architecture while I was there....

DC trip sketch burns - in my @accdistrict Visual Communication classes I teach I encourage a daily sketch practice of a 4-5 minute observational sketch. Using bold strokes and forbidding erasing it relieves the expectations of the artist in regards to outcomes and allows them to embrace the process of seeing the world and capturing it on paper. It's a great alternative to doom scrolling.
