Haha! ‘Laugh It Off’, at least that’s what Ambu Bambu teaches us as they ignite the release of a first single to a second EP on Intercept. Deep bass synths get pierced by squelchy sound design, disorientating vocal hits and sharp breakbeats. A tortoise has a shell to fend off predators, and a cactus has its spines. When people feel emotionally endangered, a way to protect themselves is to remain unfazed, even if only pretending. This track illustrates an outward air of nonchalance combined with inner turmoil.
