3rd Spartathlon ✅
153 miles of gruelling up and down 🏔️ Such a tough event.
29hrs27.
Massive thanks to my super crew @profortis_sports_therapy and @annelizecolquhoun for their support, no words are good enough for how much I value them.
Team work makes the dream work 🎉
Thanks to my run coach @ultrabritton - did it again 🎉
@lauren.y0ung @maisiey0ung @al.young.399 Thanks for your support 24/7 😘
This year Paul had a new toy 🛸📸 .I’m so lucky to have so much footage to look back on that gives it such a great perspective.
Well done to all the finishers and those that didn’t finish - we all fought a battle whatever the outcome.

Great to have my friend, GB Athlete and ultra-running legend @aliyoungrun in today, taking some well-earned time to recover after the London Marathon and a busy run of events. 🏃‍♀️✨

She’s using the MBST muscle protocol as part of her wider recovery plan, supporting the body as it resets and recharges ahead of the next training block.

MBST uses magnetic resonance technology designed to work at a cellular level, supporting the body’s natural recovery processes and helping optimise tissue health as part of rehabilitation and performance care.

Recovery is never just one thing — it’s the full picture: quality sleep, good nutrition, mobility work, strength training, smart planning, and taking time to switch off and recharge too.

Always good to have a proper catch-up as well. We can chat for hours about Ali's adventures.
Looking forward to seeing her refreshed, refocused, and ready for the next training block. 💪🔋

London Marathon nu.12, Never lets me down 🥰
Crowds were crazy, so much support for everyone. I love the stories that go behind everyone’s challenge.
Thanks to the family and their pals coming down to watch ❤️. My fave annual trip to the Silver Cross 🍻 So much fun.
3.21, can’t not be happy with that after a seriously rubbish training block 🥰.
Onwards and Upwards 🏃‍♀️
Another perfect month of running and raving 😁.

Happy!! 💃🏽💥🥳
3 months later, same outfit, over 6mins faster!
Currently sat at 2nd FV50 after 4 days of competition, there are 2 still more to go so still time to drop down ranking. Current 1st place is 1.14.17, 1 second ahead of me!Can’t say I’ve had a solid block of training with being away Jan and lots of partying Feb but more focused than my first HYROX in December a few wks after the 24hr World Champs.
Worked so hard yesterday but my wall balls have soooo much room for improvement 😂.
Thanks to @oashmat for coming down yesterday to support me 🥰

After an epic Jan 🇦🇺. Feb could’ve felt so much worse. For a short month it was pretty special with the 3 R’s packed in (raving, running, resistance), and with a firm dollop of rest, good sleep and eating & drinking what the hell I want to 💃🏽

You do not need to live a perfect existence to achieve great things. Happiness first.

Bottom Line - They are all hard. When I write ‘easier’, it’s relative, of course it’s not ‘easy’.
There are other races said to be harder (Barkley, Spine, TDG). I haven’t inc all races I’ve done but I think the ones above make good debates. All just my opinion.
🏃‍♀️
In 4th I’ve put the MDS. I loved this race and wanted to do it all again as soon as I finished. The others I definitely didn’t feel that way straight away as they were so painful. The terrain means it’s easier on your joints. The backpack did suck though & I didn’t enjoy training with it.It was a running holiday and my tent buddies were ace. Why didn’t I do it again - expense.
🏃‍♀️
In 3rd - Badwater135. This is a real toughie as so very close to Spartathlon. IF you have done your heat training and have a great crew it makes it manageable as cut-offs are healthy. The absolute hardest thing for me was the 10pm start. My first time running into a 2nd night and that was a struggle. Still one, if not ‘The’ highest of my achievements, fastest British female ever (so far). There may be some that say to me ‘yeah but it wasn’t the hottest year’, but I ‘think’ I’d nailed heat training and with crew being able to stop every mile or 3 to cool you down I think be ok 🤔. The climbs were brutal I could have done with more hill training.I’d like to do this again but it is very very expensive, I am privileged to have run it at all.
🏃‍♀️
2nd - Spartathlon.153 miles of brutal mainly road like Badwater.Trail is so much kinder than road, so both Badwater and Spartathlon share that factor. Spartathlon is very much a Running Race, there is no way of fast walking the whole thing and getting round. There are much bigger distances between seeing your crew although there are tonnes of check-points with drinks etc.My best result was on the hot 2022 year.
🏃‍♀️
In 1st ‘for me’ - 24hour running. I’m actually amazed I have done 11 x 24hr races 👀. Each one you question your life choices but something makes you want to go back for more and to try get that bit further! The brutality of the mental test out-ways any of the other physical challenges for me.
You may disagree??

I am an ultra runner who hates long training runs (or even medium sized!). I do however absolutely love big challenges and the long races which is why I do them.Much better with pals but most runs are on my own and anything over 5 miles to be honest I find so unbelievably dull.I’ve never touched the sides of a 100 mile week, usually nearer 35 miles apart from nearer to a race. This has, I’m sure, stopped me from reaching my true potential in races but I can live with that.
I don’t think I’ve met another ultra runner who also hates long training runs. Anyone else??
