three months in new york and i swear i lived a whole different life

training every day at the @joffreyschool , long hours, constant corrections, pushing past what i thought my limits were, and being surrounded by dancers who inspired me and intimidated me at the same time. it was intense and exhausting and everything i needed. i grew so much, not just as a dancer but as a person learning how to keep up in a city that never slows down.

living by myself in the middle of manhattan, learning how to exist on my own, figuring out subways (including the time i fully took one to new jersey by accident), grocery runs, walking everywhere like i had somewhere important to be even when i didn’t.

also got chased through a subway station once, ended up in places i definitely wasn’t supposed to be, and somehow still made it to class the next morning like nothing happened.

somewhere between rehearsals and just trying to keep up with the city, i accidentally ended up in a live nude drawing class?? still not sure how that happened but it feels very on brand for that version of me.

i remember looking up more than i looked at my phone. architecture, fire escapes, the way the light hit buildings at 7pm. everything felt so loud but so alive.

i met people who changed me without even trying to. learned how to be alone without feeling lonely. learned how to take care of myself in ways i never had to before.
