Very excited to announce a run of gigs coming up at the end of May and through June.
For the first time in several years, I’ll be sharing the stage again with two of my oldest friends and musical collaborators @joshspolc and @alih666 at @heapsnormal Health Club.
We’ll be playing:
31st May
14th June
21st June
28th June
3–5pm, Sunday afternoons
If you’ve ever followed what I do musically, whether through Little Archer or my work as a pianist and improviser, this is a chance to hear a mix of original compositions alongside music that has shaped me deeply as a musician.
We’ll be playing quite a few of my original compositions as well as reimagining music from Ghibli films and composers like Joe Hisaishi, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Nobuo Uematsu, filtered through a jazz trio lens, with heavy inspiration from 90s and 2000s Japanese VGM textures and a lot of spontaneous improvisation.
Really looking forward to sharing this one. Please share around as I hope to catch up and grab a healthy beer with some familiar, and hopefully new, faces there.

Happy New Year everyone!
We all have very different feelings about what the new year represents or how much is truly left behind in the year past but I'm very much looking forward to cracking on for 2026. Whatever your feelings may be I hope you are rewarded for your hard work in whatever shape that may take.
Business as usual here. There will be plenty of music to post about, however there will also be a new venture or two. I am laying the groundwork for some exciting new things that I'll be road testing for the next 12-24 months. Something, something writing or something, something professional development. I'm building a body of work that incorporates the research gained during my PhD candidature from the cognitive, psychological and sports sciences into a musician's practise-hygiene package of sorts. I won't give away too much here but I'll tease out bits here and there as they develop.
Until then here's me playing along with Dillinger Escape Plan's 'Panasonic Youth'. Improvising is great but there is something wholly unqiue satisfaction gained from nailing a drum part top to tail as one does with play-alongs.
Did I nail it? Nope. I'll get it next time.
Lots of love,
Alex
xoxoxo
Done and dusted, as of this past Monday I have no more concerts for 2025. Couldn't think of a better way to send off the year with one of my longest running groups, @jetrioau , reunited after a near 3-year hiatus.
I'll keep it brief with a massive and heartfelt thankyou to everyone I have created music with this year ❤️
Here's the last bit of music I'll post for the year so you can all get a break from my social media self-congratulations. It is the end of jetrio's song "Concrete" where Blain takes an utterly face-melting bass solo.
Happy holidays everyone. Lots of love.
xoxo

Also coming up this coming Monday are local legends jetrio!
Sean Valenzuela - piano
Blain Cunneen - guitar
Alexander Inman-Hislop - drums
jetrio is a Sydney-based three-piece that produces music that lands somewhere between meditative jazz, minimalist composition, and ambient improv - imagine if The Necks, Philip Glass, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Bill Frisell got stuck in a room with nothing but time and someone hit ‘record’.
Sean Valenzuela on piano, Blain Cunneen on guitar, and Alexander Inman-Hislop on drums build atmospheres by zooming in on details until they take on new meaning. Melodic cells repeat, evolve, and loop back on themselves until something much bigger emerges. It’s hypnotic, but it’s never static. It’s detailed, carefully constructed, and guided by a collective vision that extends well beyond performance alone.
