Has it really been over a week since Hannah and Eugene got married?

It was, by far, the hottest wedding I have ever photographed. Luckily we were at the beautiful @saratogaspringsweddings in Cathedral Grove, so the trees kept us a bit cooler! @gracefulgarlandco and her team killed it with the stunning florals that held up even in the 100+ degree weather. The gorgeous @hannbnguyen was a champ through the portraits and you would have never guessed how hot it was by looking at her!

I know it has been super quiet around here (except for gardening in the stories 😂) and I am about to ramble a bit, so I apologize! To be completely honest, some days it feels like we are barely keeping it together and I just want to spend the little free time I have reading, crafting, gardening or sleeping!

I am still photographing weddings and sessions, but at a much smaller scale than in the past. And to be fully transparent, I have been thinking about what the next few years are going to look like and how much time I will be able to dedicate to photography.

Before kids, I would go to work during the week and photograph weddings and sessions on weekends (and sometimes after work). After working a full day in the office, I would come home, cook dinner, then cull and edit photos until it was time to sleep. There were some months during the height of wedding season where I basically had no free time between working two full time jobs.

Evie actually came at a pretty perfect time because weddings were slow due to COVID anyways.. I only took on a handful of weddings and sessions and I loved each and every one of them! My couples were amazing and, as always, I felt so honored to be able to capture their special day… but it was also hard to be gone for one of our precious weekend days together as a family and figure out how to squeeze editing in after Evie went to sleep (which, of course, was also the time we had for cleaning and all the other little household tasks!) Posting in IG became something I could no longer prioritize and would only happen once in a blue moon. I started only taking sessions that are closer to home so I wouldn’t have to spend just as much time driving to a session as I did photographing it. Speaking of which, I have a bunch of sessions that I have never shared here! Someday ❤️

We are so excited that Evie is getting a little sister soon! Less than two months until baby comes <3

Mid-July is honestly probably the worst time for a wedding photographer to have a baby, but it was the perfect timing for our little family... minus the fact that we may or may not be able to move before baby comes! I've only taken on two weddings this year, so I've been spending all my time editing, preparing for maternity leave at my day job, picking out finishes and making all the little decisions that are needed during a home renovation, and packing up our current place... On top of our normal routine with a very active toddler of course ;) It's been a very busy season, but we are so excited for everything to come together. New home and new baby, hopefully in that order, haha!!

Still can't get over the gorgeous florals by @velvetandgreenfloral at @_shoffman and @quanton_noodle_soup 's beautiful @nestldownevents wedding last month! And how good does that cake from @butter_and look?!

Spring weddings really have my heart! The flowers are always so perfect and @velvetandgreenfloral created the most beautiful bouquet for Sam! @nestldownevents was particularly stunning with all the apple and cherry trees in bloom and tulips covering the grounds. @_shoffman and @quanton_noodle_soup had the most beautiful day! The perfect weather for the sweetest couple. Their love and happiness shone so brightly the entire day. Cannot wait to relive the day while editing their gallery!

Let's... not talk about how long it's been since my last post, hmm? Instead, can we talk about how the trees are starting to bloom in the Bay Area?? It's one of my favorite times of the year, when the plum blossoms and cherry blossoms turn the streets pink. Can't wait to visit @_filoli this weekend and see what's blooming! We might be a bit early for the pear tree in this photo, but I think we might catch some magnolias. 😍

The next few months are also when florists have access to the most incredible flowers, like daffodils, sweet pea, dogwood, ranunculus, and more... many of which @gracefulgarlandco incorporated in this gorgeous bouquet that is a forever favorite. For brides-to-be that love flowers... this is your hint to consider a spring wedding!
