Today we are joined by Gustavo Moraes and Marco Lafer are a Brazilian Directors duo who popularly go by the name, ‘Alaska’.
What they bring to the table is a unique combination of engaging narrative, captivating visual experience and brilliant VFX to keep us on the edge of our seats throughout. Some of their notable work includes Victoria ‘Nuestra Tierra’, EasyJet ‘Hide and Seek’ and Pepsi ‘Break the Routine’.
In today’s Q&A, we discuss their latest Super Bowl commercial for Doritos Dinamita, ‘Dina & Mita’!
The only time Jenna Ortega is not the centre of attention is when her abuelas are chasing a boy across the city for a bag of Doritos.
The feisty duo is an unarguable personification of Doritos’ flavourful explosion of fire and spice. Going by the same name as the tortilla chips’ segment, Dina and Mita are committed to not let anyone or anything come in their way.
This commercial is a package of a narrative so gripping it spares us not a second to look away, extraordinary art direction that imitates frenzy and thrill, and performance that breathes life into the story.
The camera-play follows this rhythm down to the beat and captures the chase sequence in the most dynamic and engaging way you could think of, if not beyond your imagination.
Although typical of an action-packed Super Bowl ad to be this dramatically exciting, Dina and Mita’s Origin story gave us an adventure unlike any other!
Oh, and just for the record, the boy got his hands on that packet of Doritos first, but is any of us really complaining?
