@orirenwani and his company @conceptifiedmedia won an AMVCA for their short film - Hussaini, so he came by to visit and showcase his award. (@theadeniyijoseph please ask him why he didn’t bring the winning cash prize as well ☺️)

In the course of our conversation, he asked if I had seen Call of my Life, the new film produced by Blessing Uzzi and directed by Dammy Twitch. I hadn’t. I like to go to the cinemas to see Nigerian films and had made a mental list of the ones I was yet to see. Call of my Life was one of them.

What I had seen though, was @uzoamakapower and @andrewyawbunting smitten in love at the AMVCAs😀. I was wondering when they got married because that chemistry was/is 🔥. I decided then to go see their new film afterwards (if it was PR, it worked but I’m hoping it’s real🤞), so Orire’s question reminded me of it.

I went to see it and honestly, it’s a really beautiful film. I liked the story, the cast, the acting, the scenery, the cinematography, the music and the infusion of the gorgeousness that is my Igbo language😉, into the film. Hear my expression in slide two.

If I go into detail, this post will be too long. So, maybe I’d do a video when next I see it. Suffice to say that the guys in this picture felt like the type of love expressed by Eli is impossible while we the ladies loved it😀.

Dropping this to encourage you to go to a cinema to see this refreshingly beautiful, well made film. Go see Call of my Life and let me know what you think of it.

PS: This is NOT an ad but an honest expression of an experience I enjoyed.

Queen. Trailblazer. Light of the world. The King’s daughter. Eze nwanyi. Ada eji aga mba. Super connector. Shining light. Welcome to the fourth floor ezigbo oyi’m @stephobi

Over a quarter of a century of laughter, growth, unforgettable memories, hard conversations, inside jokes, random adventures, and showing up for each other through every season of life — that is no small thing. You have been one of the rare people whose presence has brought warmth, strength, and light into my life consistently, and I deeply appreciate that.

Through the years, I have watched you grow from a fine teenager into an even more beautiful human being — wise, resilient, kind, brilliant, and deeply lovable. I am so proud of the person you are and all the lives you touch just by being yourself.

Thank you for the friendship that has stood the test of time. Thank you for the memories we carry and the ones we are still yet to create. No matter how much time passes, you will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Today, I celebrate you fully — your joy, your journey, your wins, your dreams, and the incredible future ahead of you. May this new year and season bring you peace that sits deeply, love that feels safe, opportunities that stretch you beautifully, and happiness that stays.

Happy Birthday, my dear Steph. Grateful to God for the gift of you. Welcome to your season of extraordinary abundance!

Go where you are celebrated, literally - Zanzibar Habibi!😀

Flashing back this beautiful Friday, to my trip to Zanzibar, the semi-autonomous region of Tanzania. Zanzibar surprised me.

First, some indigenes I met, kept insisting that it’s a country and not a part of Tanzania, even though the main streets were flooded with campaign materials from the presidential candidates of Tanzania😀. I would have been confused, if I hadn’t visited the museum in Dar es Salaam prior and understood the treaty reached by Tanzania and Zanzibar in the 60’s.

Second, Zanzibar thrives on tourism and it’s a concerted effort by the government. My tour guide mentioned that during Covid, they felt the heat badly because as tourism froze, so did economic activities, affecting livelihood. When I say tourism, it’s mainly from water o. Tourism contributes over 80% to its foreign exchange earnings. The same water we have in Nigeria … Enough said.

Third, the 5th slide. Had to ask him to repeat it, so I can record it. The Nigerian in me was shocked. Didn’t see it coming😀.

Fourth, they pride themselves on safety so much that the hotel doors (in Stone Town at least) are mostly open! My Nigerian heart couldn’t take it😀. Was feeling grateful that my hotel wasn’t that way, until my tour guard entered the lobby with me after the day’s tour. When I asked where he was going, he said “home”. Ladies and gentlemen, he went through the lobby to an open gate at the back that connected him home. My Nigerian heart was shook. God abeg😀

God abeg😀

He is Risen! He who is the Resurrection and the Life arose and that’s why we who believe in him - Jesus the Christ, have hope of eternal life after our time here on earth is done! I’m so grateful for Easter!

Watched Passion of the Christ for the first time with my family, 22 years after it was produced and boy oh boy, Jesus went through A LOT! Felt many emotions and chief amongst them, was love! Love is such a force! #superthankful

Happy Easter people!

Celebrating the goodness of God in the life of my friends - D.O @thedamiolanrewaju and Anu on the arrival of their gift from God after 13 years! 🙌 God is good and the fruit of the womb is His reward.

Would it even be an #Olanrewaju party if there was no live band? It’s my friend’s #RetirementPlan😄. Congratulations my friends, the sound of rejoicing dwells richly in your home.

Is there anything much more inspiring than to see emerging storytellers find their ‘creative voice’ and own it. On March 1st, I had the privilege of being part of the Multichoice Talent Factory(WA)Alumni Reunion, an evening filled with energy, memory, laughter and immense pride. It was such a joy reconnecting with many of MTF’s extraordinary alumni, brilliant young creatives many of who are now shaping the future of African film and television in bold and exciting ways. The MTF vision continues to remind that when we invest in talent, we invest in the future of our heritage stories. Thank you @akaoma and @multichoicetalentfactorywa for inviting me and for the opportunity to enjoy an evening with this wonderful creative tribe. Here’s to community, collaboration and the next chapter of greatness. 🎬✨

Perspectives expand your view and help you appreciate complexities better. Perspective is what the @beetaarts festival gave me; the perspective of the Nigerian film industry from the north. Many thanks to the rich experiences shared by ace northern filmmakers like @dimboba and @princedanielaboki

Super well done @beetaarts for staying true to the vision of showcasing the diverse forms of Africa’s rich art for 5 years. Elated to have reconnected with some of our leaders:@igalaman @femiodugbemi @iamucheagbo and some of MTF’s pioneer alums contributing meaningfully to the development of the industry @producer_mnena @nanretkumbet

One of the many things I’m super grateful for, is the love I grew up in and around. My Mum was the very foundation of that love that has continued to shape my sense of identity and disposition to life. She was my friend, confidante, mentor, favorite storyteller, gist partner, model and defender.

I remember looking at her as a young child and really admiring her. She was a beautiful woman with a beautiful spirit, a loving and cool Mum. I loved going out with her, if you called me her handbag, you’d be absolutely right😀.

I remember one time some friends and I were planning a hangout and I was going to invite my Mum to their shock. When they objected, I was like “my Mum is really cool. You’d love having her around”. “Akaoma, please don’t invite your Mum” they pleaded. What’s my own, I thought it was their loss missing such an opportunity to meet my sweet Mum😄.

I’m so grateful for the gift of her. She was always in my corner, rooting for me, correcting me but never breaking my spirit. Thank yousweet Mama for teaching me to be authentic, brave, stylish and responsible. I’ve loved you ever since I set my big eyes on you and it’s always going to stay that way ♥️♥️

My Mama would have been a year older this season. God bless @boyziimen a million times for this weighty song.

Kenya is home to 54 National parks! Yeah, you read right, 5 and 4 together. Those guys don’t play! @2natgeowild is one of my favourite channels on @dstvnigeria so there's no way I'd have missed having a first hand #natgeowild
experience.

Sitting on 29,000 acres, the Nairobi National Park is the oldest, yet smallest National park in Kenya and the only National park right smack in the centre of a city. If you are wondering how 29,000 acres can be termed small, we are in the same WhatsApp group but for context, it's so small, it can't accommodate elephants. So there are no elephants in this park.

Tsavo East National Park is the biggest with over 330,000 acres dedicated to it. I had to check how much land Kenya has and how much was dedicated to humans because the stats for animals were stat-ing😌. Found out it has a landmass of 580,367sq km and is home to about 54 million people. Thankfully, the landmass of all the game reserves across the country is only about one-tenth of the total landmass, so there's more than enough land for humans.

We spent close to 4 hours on the game drive, in search of various animals and I saw some people driving in their saloon cars and wondered why because:
1) Some parts of the roads are topsy turvy and only 4-wheels drives can wriggle through the turviness. A family was stuck in their saloon car and had to wait for help to get it out.
2) There's no way a visitor can know the nooks and crannies of the park more than the tour guides, some of whom have been doing this for many years. (Teddy, our your guide, has been on this for 9 years) So, they know when, where and how to find the animals. There were many times when we had to wait, to catch a glimpse of some animals. That’s expertise.
3) The education that the guides give are so invaluable and the view the height of the 4WD's give is so much better than a saloon car. Given, it's a higher paid-for-service, but it's well worth it.
