The BMS or Bullen Merri Special : a classic Victorian fly created by the late Muz Wilson.
For years we've had customers searching for a dubbing with enough length to properly brush these out, and now we have it!Here, shown on white for full effect.
Tied here on a size #1 Ahrex SA210, I still had the cut the Puzzle Dub fibres in half to shorten the length on this one.

In the summer, I never go fishing without my smaller “Daddies.” A small Daddy can catch surprisingly large trout, and I like to present them where the mountain birch hangs out over steep, deep water. This one is tied on an Ahrex FW524 size 10 hook.
Materials:
Abdomen: 3 mm Beige Foam, colored with brown marker
Legs: Pheasant tail
Wing: Mix of 1 natural CDC feather & Klingberg Bug Yarn, Spent Caddis, 2 strands of Crystal Flash
Back: 1 mm White foam for visual contact
