ACSA
ACSA is the largest umbrella organization for school leaders in the nation, serving more than 18,000 California public school administrators.

This morning, ACSA Pres. Dr. Daryl Camp, along with our education partners, spoke in front of the State Capitol in support of full funding for public education in California. Governor Gavin Newsom’s recent revised budget proposal includes withholding $3.9 billion from Proposition 98.
"The fact that teachers, classified employees, administrators and parents are standing together today speaks to the seriousness of this moment and the importance of fully funding public education," Dr. Camp said.

This morning, CSBA and fellow education leaders held a press conference calling for the restoration of full Prop 98 education funding and rejection of the Governor’s proposal to shortchange education funding by $5.6 billion in the 2026–27 State Budget.
During the event at @wusdk12’s River City High School, participants explained that Prop 98 is a voter-approved constitutional guarantee intended to ensure stable, predictable funding for public education. The proposal withholds approximately $900 per student in Prop 98 funding.
“For the third year in a row, Gov. Newsom has attempted to run an end around past the school funding guarantee the voters put in place. And that should concern everyone: not just educators, but anyone who believes in honoring the will of voters and the integrity of our Constitution. Because once we begin to redefine what a ‘guarantee’ means, it stops being a guarantee at all,” said CSBA President Dr. Debra Schade (@schade4kids).
Other speakers included @cftunion Early Childhood/TK-12 Council President Steve McDougall; @acsa_info Executive Director Dr. Edgar Zazueta; Washington USD Superintendent Dr. Cheryl P. Hildreth; Washington USD teacher, president of the @westsacramentoteachers and @wearecta member Doug Knepp; @petalumacityschools teacher Jenny Hlebakos; and RCHS student Clayton Pour.
“In every classroom, this means fewer resources and less support for students,” said McDougall. “Educators are already stretched thin, and this proposal makes it harder to recruit, retain and support the professionals students depend on.”
“When we fully fund our schools, we invest in opportunity, in stability and in the future of every community in California,” Zazueta noted. “The proposed withholding would trigger real cuts to student supports, academic interventions, mental health services, staffing and programs students rely on every day.”
“In our district, a loss of this magnitude could impact staffing, class sizes and critical student services,” Knepp added. “These are not abstract numbers; they are real decisions that affect students and teachers every day.”

Today at River City High School in Washington Unified School District, ACSA Executive Director Edgar Zazueta joined school management and labor organizations to call for the restoration of Prop. 98 full funding and to oppose the proposal to withhold $5.6 billion from the education budget.
“Educators and school leaders show up every day, doing everything possible to support students, often while navigating growing challenges and limited resources,” he said. “California has a responsibility to honor its commitment to public education (and) to protect students.”
