Meeting Aceii: Weaving the Woods with the City

Emerging from the woods, buzzing synths bubble up and shimmering blips phase around as Aceii [@aceii4] steps forth from the shroud. Whether he’s rapping over ambient soundscapes with a dark and downtrodden timbre or spitting melodic bars over fluttery and glimmering synths, Aceii weaves a multinatured sound through his flows and production.

A key member of music collective Shed Theory [@shedtheory], Aceii started his music journey through production. Growing up in Upstate New York, he first met fellow Shed Theory member milkreset [@milkreset] at school who would later introduce him to Shed Theory founder, Marlon DuBois [@chewychips]. Producing Carti-esque beats for Marlon in 2017, it was just a fun way to experiment creatively. As his love for music grew, his approach expanded. His collab tape with Marlon, Imaginary Conversations, highlights his versatility. Coproducing “Motion Sickness” with Marlon, an overcast rolls in that threatens rain. Sculpting a silver lining within this dark and moody environment, he conveys both a morose and hopeful outlook.

His latest project TOP100GRAMMY speaks to the struggles of his lifestyle and aspirations for something more tangible in life. From rage elements in the production of “Pompeii” to an ambient lead in “Yak!,” Aceii ties the diverse beats together through his staccato approach that’s punchy while still maintaining a bounce that holds attention.

A multifaceted artist, he started as a fashion student turned industrial design major at Pratt Institute. Not only informing his work ethic, he’s taken his skills from school to design his emoji art style as well as the merchandise for Shed Theory. Interested in the imagery and emotion facial expressions can capture, his emoji art style encapsulates his desire to create a tangible experience for people to find commonality.

Directing his energy towards a solitary approach in his music creation, his latest work showcases a new sense of craftsmanship. More complementary, more seamless, and more intentional, his breakout is coming soon.
