In memory of Josef Soffer
1934 - 2026 🤍
For those wondering about “the attic” we’re always rummaging through... it belonged to jewellery designer Josef Soffer.
Born in 1934, Joe fled Communist Czechoslovakia with his family as a child before eventually settling in London, where he and his father built a costume jewellery business together, supplying boutiques and stores with handmade designs for decades.
Even as the industry changed, Joe continued designing and creating jewellery for as long as his health allowed.
Over the past few months, we’ve been uncovering drawers filled with sketches, stones, unfinished samples and countless magnificent pieces tucked away in his beloved home.
We feel incredibly grateful to be part of preserving and sharing Joe’s life’s work, including completing pieces he never got the chance to finish.
His creativity, craftsmanship and legacy will continue to live on through every piece 🤍
Rest peacefully, Joe.. with love from everyone at Accessories of Old

While sourcing jewellery from the late Joe Soffer’s collection, we stumbled across boxes of old records tucked away alongside the treasures 🎶✨
Turns out he had incredible taste in music too… we can only imagine some of these absolute bangers playing while he created his beautiful pieces.
Sometimes the best part of sourcing is discovering the unexpected things left behind 🤍

Finding beauty in the architectural tension of the Lake District, this collection draws a direct line between the imposing Neo-Gothic silhouette of Wray Castle and the intricate craft of evening wear. London-based designer Emile Braibant translates the castle’s "mock" brutalist elegance into structural pieces adorned with antique Swarovski pendants and hand-braided silver thread sourced from 1920s headbands. This exploration of heritage continues with designs inspired by the Ruined Abbey at Painshill Park, where the wistful reflections of 18th-century masonry inform the fluidity of the garments. By repurposing antique jewellery and trims, the work bridges the gap between the monumental scale of British landmarks and the delicate intimacy of high-fashion craftsmanship.
