For a lot of people, showing up to a protest is the easiest, clearest way to make their voice heard. The hard part is figuring out what to do after.
That's why we built tomorrow's training: So You've Been to a Protest: Now What? Register now at risingorganizers.org or at tinyurl.com/NOWWHAT2026
This training came directly from conversations we’ve been having over the past few weeks with people like you about how to stay engaged and make an impact between protests and between elections, when shit is still hitting the fan but fewer people are hitting the streets.
In one hour, we’ll break down what organizers actually do between big public protests and what your next steps can be to join them. You’ll learn how people move from showing up to a protest to taking everyday action that protects and advances our democracy. And we'll show you how to find and build an organizing home by talking to your neighbors and finding an organization that fits your vision for your community.
We're hosting this special virtual version this Friday to give you guidance on what comes next for you and your community, led by two experienced organizers, @aaron_bo02 and @odinucci, who can share their tips and tricks for building power every day.
Sign up for Friday's free training now at risingorganizers.org or at tinyurl.com/NOWWHAT2026, and be sure to bring your protest pals.

It's been a little over a week since the last No Kings protest, and many of us are looking around at this, well, shit show, and wondering, "What do I do now?"
That's where this training comes in. Join us on Friday, April 17 at 12 PM ET for a virtual run of our latest training, So You've Gone to a Protest—Now What? Register now at the link in our bio or at risingorganizers.org
In this time between protests, it can be overwhelming and confusing to know what a normal person in the world should do to fight for a more just and democratic future. In this one hour deep dive, we'll give you top tips for taking action, finding your people, and continuing to make your voice heard no matter what's going on in the streets.
This training was inspired by real conversations we've had with people just like you who are looking for their path to progress. We'll talk about the role of taking action, teach you how to build the networks and relationship that make winning possible, and leave you with some imagination about what your future might hold.
That means you'll walk into the training wondering, "Now what?" and walk out with some answers.
We just ran this training in person last week, and we heard from a lot of you that you wanted a virtual version, so we're excited to share this opportunity with you.
Join us next Friday for this engaging, one-hour training that will give you guidance on what comes next for you and your community, led by two of our most experienced action-takers, @aaron_bo02 and @odinucci
Register for next Friday's training now at the link in our bio and, first rule of organizing, bring a friend.

Protests matter, and they're an important expression of people power. They can also spark curiosity, and questions like, how do these kind of mass actions come about? What comes after? And what's my role?
If these are the kinds of questions you're thinking about today, join us for this week's free training, "So You've Gone to a Protest, Now What?" Register now at the link in our bio or at risingorganizers.org
This training was inspired by real conversations we've had with people just like you who are ready to do more to fight for our democracy. We'll teach you everything you need to know about how to continue to build power after the protest signs are put away. Best of all, you'll have two expert trainers leading the way: @odinucci and @amad.mahbub, two Rising Organizers alumni who have real-life tips and real stories to share.
That means you'll walk into the training wondering, "Now what?" and walk out with an answer.
Join us for this engaging, interactive training that will give you guidance on what comes next for you and your community. Registration is free, but space is limited, so sign up now—and be sure to bring your protest buddies.

Hitting the streets is a crucial way to take action, speak truth to power, and take direct action with people in your community. But have you ever found yourself leaving the energy of the protest and wondering, what do I do now?
Here at Rising Organizers, we know all about that experience—and we're here to help.
Protests are one of many tools in our social change toolbox, and building off of protests is key to movement success. That's why we're excited to invite you to our free organizing training on Tuesday, March 31: So You've Gone to a Protest, Now What?
Register now at the link in our bio, risingorganizers.org, or the bit.ly in this graphic!
Designed to build on this weekend's No Kings protest, in this free training experienced organizers will share techniques, information, and tools to continue moving forward together.
We're excited to see you at this Tuesday's training! Register now at the link in our bio or at risingorganizers.org

If you're anything like us, you also have this experience: you show up to a protest, you’re surrounded by people who care, the energy is real—and then it ends. Everyone heads home, and you’re left wondering what actually comes next.
That's why on March 31st at 6:30 PM at MLK Library, we're hosting a training to answer exactly that question: “So You’ve Gone to a Protest, Now What?” Register now at the link in our bio, at risingorganizers.org, or bit.ly/ProtestNowWhat
This session is for anyone who's taken the time to hit the streets and wants to continue pushing that energy forward. We’ll talk about how change builds over time—not just in big moments, but in the smaller actions and relationships that keep people connected and moving forward.
Together, we’ll cover:
- How to build a campaign that turns small actions into real power
- Simple ways to bring people together around the issues you care about
- The connection between actions, relationships, and political change
We'll talk about how to organize for the long term, what movements need to succeed, and how you can play a role in that success long after the protest ends.
Bring your questions, your energy, and your protest buddies. Registration is free but space is limited, so be sure to save your seats now at the link in our bio, risingorganizers.org, or bit.ly/ProtestNowWhat

Our Fair Budget Fam is storming social media to remind our local leaders that #WeGotUsDC ❤️🔥 and to introduce our latest budget platform!!!
Grateful to our Constituent Leadership Program graduates for helping us answer a question we’ve been asking ourselves…
“What if we get it right?” 🌱
Over the past few years, DC’s government has made significant cuts to social safety net programs and, more importantly, has backed away from commitments to care for our own. When we focus on a robust social safety net, it addresses historic, racial harm while allowing us to resource this same communities who embody the lived experience to imagine a future where DC is self-sustaining, thriving, and cares for us all!

A new day, a new offering for DMV organizers!
This is your invitation to apply to our Spring 2026 Staff Fellowship program! This five day bootcamp is designed to meet the skills, schedules, and needs of staffers at organizing and advocacy organizations.
When joining the staff fellowship, you also join Rising Organizers community of practice, which gives you access to exclusive alumni training offerings, a community of 300+ other organizers in the DMV, and lifelong campaign and career support.
If that sounds good for you or someone you know, apply now at risingorganizers.org/professionals. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and close on March 8. Don't miss this opportunity—it won't be back until October.
Know someone who should apply? Tag them below. We love referrals almost as much as we love organizing people to fight for the things they and their communities need to thrive.
(.... Almost.)

We know there's been a lot going on this month (very little of it good), and so a few folks reached out to us asking for extra time on their fellowship applications. And here at Rising Organizers, well, we're all about the people. So we've extended the deadline to Monday, January 19 at 11:59 PM. Apply now at the link in our bio or at risingorganizers.org/fellowship
If you've been on the fence about applying or if you just didn't have the time to get to the application this week, now's your moment. This opportunity won't be back until September, and 2026 is already proving that this is no time to sit on your hands and wait.
So if you are looking for a community that shares your values, that wants to work toward the kind of future you deserve, and that wants to take real, practical steps to change the world—apply to the fellowship by this Monday, January 19. We can't wait to meet you.

DUE FRIDAY: Everything sucks. Are you ready to do something about it?
Rising Organizers’ free community organizing fellowship is a place to turn your anger and frustration at the state of, well, everything into real skills, real relationships, and real power that can change your future. Apply now at risingorganizers.org/fellowship or at the link in our bio.
Fellows will learn how movements are built, how to win real campaigns, and how to work with your community to build the future you deserve.
You don’t need to be an expert on the issues or have all the answers. You just need to be curious, open, and ready to imagine something better.
Applications close this Friday, January 17, at 11:59 PM. Don't miss this opportunity—we can't wait to meet you.

2025 tested me and just about everybody I love.
We lost Arturo and Jaime. Mentors who welcomed me and others into community organizing in DC with open arms are now ancestors. There are no words for that kind of loss, only memories: the lunches, long phone calls, jokes in the middle of serious meetings, and the conversations about the struggle for working-class unity and what we are truly up against. You both pushed me to think deeper and fight harder.
This year reminded me that hope isn’t just a feeling, it’s also hard work! Showing up while grieving. Organizing even when you're exhausted. Learning (again) that an attack on one is an attack on all, and that what comes next depends on us.
Mass demonstrations. Economic boycotts. Strategic electoral struggle. We must use every tool in our toolbox. We have real opportunities from 2026 to 2028. We can block the far-right's Project 2025 and build independent political power for working people.
I'm ready for a new year and new struggles.

This weekend, our community showed up for the Rising Organizers DC Community Festival! Hundreds of residents and allies joined us for a day of learning and action, all united in our knowledge that DC deserves real power and just representation.
We gathered for workshops, food, and culture—including a drumline led by local Black youth—to connect across struggles and fight back against the occupation of our District.
This wasn’t just a community festival. It was a step toward the future that DC (and the rest of the country) deserves.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and to the community that makes this work possible! Want to revisit the magic? This is the video for you.
