βOn 7 May, Rodolphe Janssen Gallery in Brussels will be showcasing Aaron Harrisβs work in a group exhibition that focuses on intimacy within private spheres. His work fits seamlessly into this theme. Although Aaron has extensive experience in the art world, he is new to the role of artist.β

Do you know Aaron Harris?
Letβs meet him at the booth of @josilda_da_conceicao_gallery during Art Antwerp.
Aaron Harris (b. 1990, Antwerp, BE) is a Belgian artist living and working in Antwerp. His work is concerned with the relationship that people have, through memory and daily routine, with their immediate environment and their own body.
β
Paintings depicting architectural elements or utilitarian objects such as sinks, toilets, doors and windows reflect on individual and collective histories, games and stories. Other work show the human figure or body in an obscured or highly cropped fashion. This allows the mind of the viewer to engage, delve deeper, and surf the currents of personal interpretation within our shared, recollective experience.
β
The works are always based on existing images drawn from the artistβs own archive of self-made or sourced photographs. While the images sometimes lack further informative or narrative context, some titles refer to, or contradict, possible interpretations. This textual tag on the work can simply reference the imagery used, or allude to literature or music that Harris is engaged with in the studio.

Josilda da Conceição Gallery presents Sedimented Terrain at Art Antwerp 2025
With Aaron Harris, Bart Houwers, Tiago Santos and Geraldo Dos Santos
Invited guest artists
CΓ©lio Braga, Juliette de Graaf, Maria van der Togt
Dates: 11 - 14th of December
Opening: Thursday 11th of December, 16:00-21:00h
Booth C26
In Sedimented Terrain, a presentation by Josilda da Conceição, exhibits the artworks and practices of @geraldodossantos.nl , @aaron.har , @barthouwers , @mariavandertogt , @celiopbraga @juliette_de_graaf and @sotnasogait_ in a polyphonic study of how matter, memory, and place accrue, erode, and reconfigure themselves across time.
The exhibition unfolds as a porous landscape - part anthropological site, part imagined topography - where the traces of intimate gestures and collective histories cohabit in shifting strata. Each artist approaches the sediment not as an inert deposit but as an active agent in the continual rewriting of place. Inherited cosmologies and the spectral architectures of belonging ripple through layered materials and narrative thresholds.
Working through the language of painting, they isolate mundane fragments and utilitarian forms, reframing them as mnemonic devices within the unfinished archive of daily life. Houwers responds to the slow violence of rural transformation, assembling interventions from displaced matter and fractured histories to chart the erosion of local knowledge. He interrogates material permanence, coaxing from surfaces their concealed histories of wear, fracture, and adaptation.
These practices operate within a speculative environment of remnants that resists the closure of a singular origin or conclusion. The residue of the past here is mutable, unstable, and generative - a shifting medium through which new forms of relation emerge. Through sculpture, installation, painting, and site-specific gestures, the works articulate an evolving dialogue between origin and mundane relationships.
