UK Music Chief Executive Tom Kiehl has hailed the crucial role of the @thebritishmusicembassy (BME) in helping grow the UK music industry domestically and globally following the announcement that it will be serving up another fantastic showcase at this year's @sxswlondon.

Tom said: “Our sector contributes £8 billion a year to the economy, generates £4.8 billion in export revenues and supports 220,000 jobs – but is facing intense competition from international markets more than ever. The British Music Embassy has a vital role to play as fantastic global showcase to help the UK’s incredibly diverse musical industry grow at home and abroad.

“I’m confident this year’s SXSW London will build on its inaugural success last year by promoting our unbeatable musical talent and our brilliant music businesses, as well as helping launch more international careers.”

Taking place across June 2-3, the showcase will feature performances from @nadineshah, @michael.aldag, @venusgrrrls, @yrs_uk, @futureutopiaofficial, @cqwrestling, @preciouspepala and @daytimetvofficial.

The BME in London is a collaboration between the Department for Business & Trade (DBT), music licensing companies @ppl_uk and @prsformusic, UK record labels association the @bpi_music (British Phonographic Industry), the @britishcouncil, the UK’s leading charitable funder of new music @prsfoundation Foundation, UK Music, and the @northernmusicexport Music Export Office.

UK Music Chief Executive Tom Kiehl has criticised the Government's failure to tackle "shady ticket touts and rogue businesses" in today's King's Speech. The exploitation of real music fans on the ticket resale market has gone on for too long and must not be allowed to continue.

UK Chief Executive Tom Kiehl has welcomed the announcement from Apple Corps Ltd that it will be bringing the first ever official @thebeatles fan experience to 3 Savile Row in 2027.

The legendary location was one of Apple Corps Ltd’s earliest 1960s HQs and was the site of The Beatles’ legendary rooftop performance – the ‘Fab Four’s’ final public performance – on January 30 1968.

Set to launch in 2027, ‘The Beatles at 3 Savile Row’ will welcome the public in for the first time to experience seven floors of unseen material from the Apple Corps Ltd archives, rotating exhibitions, a recreation of the studio where the band recorded Let It Be, and more.

UK Music Chief Executive Tom Kiehl welcomed the news, highlighting the enduring impact of The Beatles and their continued appeal to the UK music industry around the world: "This incredible fan experience marks a truly special moment not just for Beatles lovers but for the entire UK music industry. The Beatles' timeless music and pioneering spirit changed the world, inspiring generations of artists and bringing millions of music fans from across the globe to the UK every year.

"Music tourism is a major source of soft power for the UK, attracting 23.5 million music tourists in 2024 who spent £10 billion coming to gigs and festivals, according to UK Music research. 3 Savile Row is one of the most iconic and important locations in both The Beatles' and Britain's musical legacy, and this unique experience will cement the UK music industry's world-leading status."

UK Music Chief Executive Tom Kiehl has written to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer urging him to deliver on his manifesto promises to crack down on unscrupulous ticket touts by introducing a price cap on secondary ticket sales, and to tear down barriers to EU touring.

In his letter Tom Kiehl said: “If the King’s Speech, to be delivered on 13 May, fails to deliver progress on two specific and vital Labour manifesto pledges then this will represent a major loss of momentum and land a hammer blow to the huge economic growth music generates.

“Music fans are the lifeblood of our £8 billion industry, and the Government must do everything in its power to ensure they are no longer ripped off on the secondary ticketing market. By introducing a price cap on ticket resale, government can put an end to profiteering touts pricing real fans out of their favourite artists’ shows.

“UK Music is also calling for government to remove costly and time-consuming obstacles to EU touring. Seamless cultural exchange between the UK and the EU is essential to driving export growth, and UK artists must be able to build fanbases across the EU free from the prohibitive barriers currently in place.

“We therefore urge you to use the forthcoming legislative session to deliver on your clear manifesto commitments regarding ticket resale and EU touring."
