What a year (almost!) it’s been since we opened A FIRE IN MY BELLY at JSC Berlin and I’m both very happy and tiny bit sad to be saying goodbye to this massive show. Certain soundtracks will surely haunt me in my sleep 😅
I never posted the installation views from the basement section, which features another 12 works by a cross-generational group of artists spanning work made from 1969 to 2019!

It’s been quite the emotional process to put on this show in the past year. Finally sharing install shots from A FIRE IN MY BELLY at JSC Berlin. The show will be up until the end of 2021, so hopefully, despite the constant back and forth between being open and needing to close, we can welcome as many visitors as possible! 🔥❤️
47 works are on view in total, 6 are loans, the rest from the collection.
Beginning with the ground floor:
1. David Wojnarowicz, A Fire In My Belly (Film In Progress), 1986-87
2. Zoe Leonard, Untitled Aerial, 1988/2008
3. Karl Wilhelm Dieffenbach, Capri, 1911 / Anne Imhof, Untitled (Wave), 2021
4. Anne Imhof, Untitled (Wave), 2021
5. Laure Prouvost, They Parlaient Idéale, 2019
6. Kandis Williams, Eurydice, 2018@juliastoschekcollection @juliastoschek #davidwojnarowicz @zoe_leonard_studio @anne_imhof #karlwilhelmdiefenbach @studioprouvostsocialclub @kandis_williams 📷 @alwin_lay

“We are the editors,” says Lynn Hershman Leeson✨ And now we’ve edited A History of Her Own.Greetings from the countryside where I’ve been howling to the book spirits @moussemagazine and @juliastoschekfoundation. I’m not going to lie, making books is a wondrous and treacherous task because unlike exhibitions, they remain and every typo haunts you in your sleep. 400 pages; reprints, new essays, articles, interviews, and writing by @lynn.l.leeson herself. We kept all the original formats (a lesson learned), and tried to incorporate as many facets as possible but still so many aspects of her practice are missing.
I couldn’t have done this without these patient and sharp-minded ladies @josefingranetoft and @lineajan, who also contributed with new essays. Makes me proud. A big thank you to the team at Mousse @ilariabombelli @francescovaltolina, @emma.passarella, and to all the contributors for their permissions and support. Thank you @hoffman.donahue and @altmansiegel for your dedication. And to the editors of the editor and the new commissions: Hannah Gregory @hnnh_eg and Kat Black!
@juliastoschek, without you none of this happens ♥️

Dora Budor, Inner Vampire
May 13 - June 29, 2025, DFI e.V. @towards.photography in collaboration with @companion_culture
Maybe one of my favorite exhibition titles ever. Had the pleasure of grounding with the unstoppable @dorabudor who went on an adventure with me earlier this year. Thanks for agreeing to be a part of Companion Culture’s first project! 🥰
Another big thanks to the team @towards.photography and @galeriemolitor
“Inner Vampire” featured a selection of existing works of photography and moving image, as well as a newly produced video by the artist Dora Budor. Made with a range of contemporary consumer tools and materials, the works reference or transpose historical media formats—from 1920s cinema and early television broadcasting to structural film and digital video; and from Polaroid to its contemporary incarnation, Instax.

I’ve been recently informed (by a trusted colleague, who was informed by her very trusted babysitter, and I mean that seriously) that according to numerology, we are at the end of a nine year cycle which will start anew next year. Some good news, hopefully, and also my opportunity to catch up on my digital portfolio while we’re still in this old cycle, relating to past projects that I didn’t post during my two year break from Instagram. It was nice being away, I recommend, but also, my cooking has again improved and the chihuahua content is off the charts.
After Images was my final exhibition at @juliastoschekfoundation in Berlin and it, like my numerological reference, signaled an ending and new beginning. The show featured over 30 works, including six new commissions and interventions that embraced an expanded definition of time-based art. No video (or barely) and no representational images. Instead, we proposed a shift from the purely visual to the haptic and multi-sensorial.
Im so proud of all the new work we produced and I want to say thank you thank you thank you to all the artists and the whole team, especially the curatorial department with @lineajan and @josefingranetoft ❤️❤️❤️ We’re missing some images here bc that is part of Trisha Donnelly’s practice so you had to have seen it to get the whole experience ✌🏼
Artists: Jo Baer, Rosa Barba, Theresa Baumgartner, Paul Chan, Trisha Donnelly, Laurel Halo, Lotus L. Kang, LABOUR, Ghislaine Leung, David Medalla, Carsten Nicolai, Norbert Pape & Simon Speiser, Giovanna Repetto, Chaveli Sifre, Jesse Stecklow, Anicka Yi

At Loop Symposium 2024, curated by @filipaaaaaaaaaaa at Loop Barcelona, professionals from major art institutions shared their approaches to exhibiting artists’ films. Watch the full discussion on our website or YouTube channel.
Lisa Long is a curator specializing in contemporary and time-based art.
