Reintroducing myself.
If you’ve found me through the edits/dubs, sets, or the last releases — thank you. That stuff laid the foundation. But what I’m moving into now will be a bit different.
Refractions is a new series and a new frame. It’s very much about me creating in spaces I haven’t explored before with more space, more detail and more intention.
My creative approach comes very much from that of a DJ - mixing multiple things until they’re not quite one thing and not quite the other. It’s in these spaces that I think we can create things that feel truly original and exciting

Been a week since Refractions released 💠
Did a little production breakdown for @beatport over on Tik Tok and wanted to share over here as I get alot of questions on how my production techniques.
Always a bit hard to fit this kind of thing into short form content but thought ASHES would be the most interesting as most of the main elements came from the sample
Hope it's insightful for you all 🤓

As the full EP release is fast approaching wanted to share some BTS of the press shoot from a few months back to give an insight into the process!
Most of my creativity lives in the studio so getting to build something visual from scratch was new territory for me. Loved every bit of it. Hope you all have been enjoying Crystals 💙

As someone whose life has been deeply shaped by rave culture and dance music, speaking with an artist as intentional and exacting as Darama was a real joy.
Darama makes music shaped by the freedom, presence, and self-expression found on the dancefloor and beyond it. His new sound is rooted in UK dance music but unconstrained by its edges, refracting UKG, RnB, and Hip-Hop through South Asian texture.
The project marks a deliberate move into new creative territory. After years of building a foundation through edits, dubs, and collaborative releases, Refractions represents a reintroduction to Darama.
Darama’s willingness to be guided what feels right runs through every part of his upcoming EP, Refractions.
His approach gives the work originality and edge, opening new contexts and emotions within club music.
With Refractions, Darama asks us to move beyond nostalgia and revivalism as he expands what club music can hold, creating something that endures. This interview traces that process.

Darama
One of the most distinctive voices in the UK underground, Darama’s percussive, South Asian-rooted take on bass and UK garage has turned him into one of the scene’s most sought-after selectors. A proud member of the Daytimers crew, his dubs speak for themselves, becoming staples across platforms such as Rinse, the BBC and Reprezent.
What excites us most is where his sound is heading, weaving RnB and UKG into something that feels entirely his own.
