A little over two years ago Liliya approached me with a script that was inspired by her first time visiting home since the beginning of Russia’s full scale invasion. That summer, I travelled to Kyiv to shoot the film with her alongside a cast and crew of insanely talented Ukrainians.

Despite the challenging circumstances, both the art and film community in Ukraine continue to make work and engage in creative projects. In a way, Liliya wanted this film to be a reflection of that resistance: of life and love persisting in the face of unbelievable destruction.

The film follows a local bronze caster after a young girl goes missing from her apartment complex. It traces the connection between the disappearance of Edo girls from Benin City and the stolen art of the Benin kingdom.
