Birmingham-born, London-based DJ @___keyrah has always taken an eclectic approach to her mixes. This translates into @___miscsounds, a limitless, genre-defying musical concept created by Keyrah covering radio, playlists, club nights and beyond.
We wanted to learn more about the thinking behind Misc;, and where Keyrah wishes to take her listeners with it:
“Misc; bridges my soundscape as a DJ across playlists, radio and live shows. It serves as a place to connect likeminded music lovers and a playground for me to curate new and exciting line ups with DJs I love and respect. I put a lot of consideration into each night, the same way I would when recording a radio set or curating a playlist. It all has to be cohesive. Misc; is short for Miscellaneous, as I feel like that resonates with my eclectic sound. The semi-colon represents the joining of all these genres / concepts in one space.
It’s about taking listeners on a journey, an eclectic, cohesive and immersive one. It’s a space to discover and connect with music in a way that feels intentional. Hopefully people come away feeling inspired by the music and the moments it creates.
Each and every Misc; has taken on a different format so far, whether that be the venue or the curation of the night.
