This semester I took a Photo 101 class and created a series titled Black Boy Joy. This series is a exploration of Black boys and men of color in moments of joy and self expression. It highlights them engaging in activities and occupying spaces where they feel at home, seen, and welcomed.

Homicide is the leading cause of death for Black men between the ages of 13 and 35, and one out of every four Black men is currently involved in the penal system. I’m capturing and preserving their image — some kind of evidence of existence.”
