Bridget Jones is the voice of the millennial generation, and I’m prepared to defend that stance.
It’s been 25 years since millions of us met the character who would define a generation — and I’m beyond thrilled to share that I’ll be joining Renée Zellweger and Sharon Maguire to mark this momentous occasion at the Tribeca Festival on Friday, June 12 in New York City.
Units of disbelief: too many to count. Chances I’ve already cried about it: very high. This is, as Bridget herself would say, v. g.
Bridget Jones’s Diary was so foundational to the adult I became. It came out right as I was becoming one. So much of my humor, my love language, how I see myself traces back to her. I can’t believe I get to be in the same room as the people who brought her to life.
If you’re going to be in NYC, tickets are at the link in my bio. You won’t want to miss this. I’ve also linked my @newsweek cover story with Renée that came out after the last film.
Now tell me: what’s your favorite Bridget Jones moment? And what should I ask Renée and Sharon? Drop it in the comments.

Vanishing Tracks (2026) | Official Trailer
Outside the ancient Iranian city of Shiraz, nomadic Qashqai sheepherders Valliolah and Dorna contend with local and prosaic concerns. Twelve sheep have been stolen from the flock and must be tracked down; their three adult sons aren’t particularly eager to help, preferring to play video games or hang out with friends from university rather than continue in the family trade. Soon, the annual migration will force everyone — human and animal alike — to travel overnight from the shrubby foothills under the Zagros mountains toward greener pastures, traversing urban sprawl and highways that now cut directly through the old nomadic routes.
This warm and pensive feature from Iranian filmmaker Hamed Zolfaghari showcases the people and culture of the region through gorgeous landscape cinematography, dreamy interludes and intriguing sheep-drama subplots.

Funk (2026) | Official Clip
In the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, funk music reigns supreme. And for Sabrina (Duda Santos), becoming the queen of “kinky funk” (or “putería,” as it’s called in Brazil) isn’t a dream. It’s an inevitability. Young, smart and determined, with undeniable skills on the mic and a mouth that’s even filthier than those of her male counterparts, Sabrina has what it takes to succeed in this colorful world of hard beats and unbridled sexuality, but she’ll have to crash the gates of polite society to get there. Will she forget where she came from in the process?
