#OnThisDay in 1916, a journey of legendary proportions reached its end. After their ship was lost to the ice, Sir Ernest Shackleton, Frank Worsley, and Tom Crean finally reached the Stromness Whaling Station - completing an unprecedented trek across the mountainous heart of South Georgia to save their stranded crew.

As an artist, I find an incredible pull in this story of survival. In my paintings: ‘Endurance I’ and ‘Endurance II’, I wanted to explore that tension between a fragile human vessel and the monumental, unyielding power of the ice.

These paintings are about the 'Eternal Thread' of resilience that connects us to the most extreme environments on our planet.
