🔥 Sliders in the Spotlight at Flat Out Friday! 🔥

I ran into Venisha Simpson, Executive Director of BikerFest MKE, at Flat Out Friday and got some short interviews with four of the Sliders team members — dropping in the next couple of weeks 👀

The Sliders Flat Track Racing Program gives kids in Milwaukee access to riding electric and dirt bikes and hands-on experiences inside the world of motorcycle mechanics and engineering — teaching everything from riding skills to how to take a bike apart and build it back up again as part of learning STEM and problem-solving along the way. 

This crew is doing more than just racing — they’re mentoring, building confidence, developing real skills, and helping youth connect with community and opportunity. It’s a powerful example of what happens when passion meets purpose.

🏁 3rd Flat Out Friday. 2 Years of Sliders.

In December 2023, @bikerfestmke & @creamcitymoto launched a small pilot youth program with a big vision. A partnership with @flatoutfriday was developed and FOF 2024 became our first official race which now marks our anniversary race.

From very humble beginnings to still humble, but steadily growing, the journey has been powerful. Our participation has grown, and more importantly, so has the personal development of our youth. Confidence. Discipline. Leadership. Belief.

It’s incredible what a little access and real opportunity can create.

It’s been a rough start to the season for our Sliders.

Last week, one of our riders pushed a bike too hard in first gear without shifting and ended up seizing the engine. His heart broke immediately. This is now the second bike he’s ridden that has gone down with major issues, including the vintage Harley he raced last summer. Around the pits they jokingly started calling him “the motorcycle killer.” Funny… but not really, because this kid truly wants to ride and be part of the team.

Then this week, another Slider locked his brakes up twice during his race, took a few hard tumbles, and had a difficult day overall. Yes, there were lessons learned, but there were hurt feelings too. His pride took a hit right along with the bike, including the exhaust falling off during the chaos.

And then this morning, we discovered that same bike had been stolen overnight.

Thanks to people in the community who chose to help and point us in the right direction, we were able to work with the Milwaukee Police Department and spend over 3 hours searching the area until we finally located the person responsible and recovered the bike.

Thank you to @milwaukeepolicedeparment and everyone who helped bring it back.

Unfortunately, the bike now has even more damage and we are still assessing the full extent of it all.

Right now, we are officially 4 bikes down.

And while these are motorcycles, what’s really at stake are the young people attached to them. These kids wait all week to ride. They work hard. They build confidence through this program. They are frustrated, discouraged, and hurting right now, but they still want to get back on the track.

So we’re asking our community for help.

Help us repair these bikes. Help us keep these kids riding, racing, learning, and growing this summer.

Because setbacks are part of the journey… but we’re not giving up on these kids.

Today marks the first race of the season at @BeaverCycleClub and Noah is ready to line up. 🏁

He spent his Friday in the garage at @motofied tightening things up, making adjustments, and getting his bike dialed in for today’s race.

Last week was rough. We’re now down 3 bikes after Donald seized an engine during practice, so now it’s back to the basics for the team… bike familiarization, understanding the controls, clutch work, gear shifting, and rebuilding confidence one gear at a time.

Today Noah is the only Slider racing, but none of us ride alone. The whole team is still showing up because that’s what family does. We support each other through the highs, the setbacks, and every lap in between.

The Sliders Youth Racing Program is about more than motorcycles.

It’s about giving young people in Greater Milwaukee access to something positive, challenging, and life-changing. Through riding, racing, and building motorcycles, our youth develop confidence, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills in a supportive environment built around mentorship and growth.

Programs like this take community support to survive and that’s why the BikerFest Block Party matters so much.

The Block Party is our largest fundraiser of the year, and proceeds directly support our youth programming, helping us provide bikes, safety gear, track access, mentorship, training opportunities, and hands-on learning experiences for the next generation.

Noah228 has been putting in the work and it shows.

Over the past few months, he’s been locked in, focused on finishing his RM85 build with the goal of racing it at the 2026 @FlatOutFriday and showcasing the bike at this year’s @MamaTriedShow. Seeing that vision come together has built a level of pride and confidence in Noah that’s been incredible to be apart of.

Since that moment, he’s been over the moon, fired up and ready for the season ahead. Opportunities like this give Noah and the rest of the Sliders something real to look forward to, something worth working toward.

As one of our lead Sliders, Noah continues to set the tone and supporting the younger riders, sharing what he’s learned, and showing them what dedication looks like.

At the Mama Tried Bike Show we got to talk with two awesome kids Noah and his brother Donald from Sliders.

Sliders is a Milwaukee based youth flat track racing program giving kids real access to motorcycle racing, mechanics, safety training, and STEM skills in a fun supportive environment. Riders ages roughly 7–16 learn balance control decision making and hands-on skills from experienced mentors while building confidence on and off the track. It’s more than racing, it’s community connection opportunity and growth through motorsports.
