The W154 is powered by a 3.0 liter two-stage supercharged V12 that developed 483 horsepower at 7,800 rpm. This was enough power to propel the W154 to speeds over 190 mph. This incredible performance was due in part to the fuel it burned, which was a mixture of methyl alcohol, nitrobenzene, acetone, and sulphuric ether.

Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union dominated the 1939 Grand Prix season until it was cut short with the outbreak of WWII. This specific car was only used once by the factory team for the Belgrade Grand Prix.
