Last chance to donate to the seed fund! The fundraiser closes on the weekend.

Hear from the charismatic @realjanestark about the impact Audible Edge has had on her life and music since being a Seed Fund artist in 2025.

We know AE is loved, but it even after eight years it remains uncertain every year whether we will make it to the next. Your donation is a way to increase the likelihood of AE's return.

I made an album!

A couple of weeks ago, I challenged myself to make a full-length album of interesting noise, using just two stock samples I had on my computer (and a feedback loop in the second half). The bar for interesting sounds is to be determined by my dear girlfriend @zoe.koong , for whom the jury is presently out. (She drew my profile pic! Which, in turn, is of a photo taken by the fabulous @stirlingkain ). Hence the title.

I looped and chopped these samples, and layered, looped and chopped those edited samples, stacking up to get a more complex sound, in real time. I triggered samples semi-randomly, challenging myself to respond to these random impulses in a musical (but also semi-random) fashion, like I would a living collaborator. And somehow, a structure emerged. (Then I added some quiet keyboard stuff for atmosphere.)

You can listen via the link in my bio. I might also make cassettes, so let me know if that interests you.

All da best, and I hope 2026 has started off well for you,
Jane

O,D,E's score is played live on stage by an ensemble of six players from the heart of Tone List's exploratory music scene. Co-composing the work in many ways and bringing their personal voices to the foreground, the group includes experienced members who have played with such luminaries as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Keiji Haino and Axel Dörner, alongside inspiring up-and-comers in the scene. This co-creative ethic extends to the whole piece, which is rare in the opera genre.

O,D,E, a new opera by Sage J Harlow, is on August 26 - September 6. Get your tickets, spread the word, make sure none miss a chance to see this ambitious, gorgeous, terrifying and wonderful work ❤️‍🔥

🐛 @naoko.uemoto - saxophone

🌀 Michael Terren - laptop

📯 Craig Pedersen (aka Dr Text Score) - trumpet & bass

🍃 @saskia.robin - flute

🏹 @realjanestark - percussion

⚜️ @eduardo__cossio - zithers, electronics

Really excited to be presenting a new work with Josiah Padmanabham (of Grievous Bodily Calm) at WA Museum Boola Bardip next week.

It's a dawn set, combining gentle synths, unpredictable electronics and traditional (acoustic) instruments. It's part of an awesome festival put on by Tone List, with loads of gigs packed into four days. Come down!

When we think about @daisysanders28, her art, and her contributions to the Boorloo scene - her vulnerability and openness is what links her work with her impact - which is greatly inspiring to us 💐

In that spirit, we decided that our opening set for Transit should be honest and heart led. @saskia.robin (with accompaniment and immense logistical + emotional + musical support from @realjanestark) will play a set of what can be described as ♡ sad piano songs, depression ballads, or diary entries to music from her early twenties ♡ 🌧️🌧️🌧️These have been performed once, sort of, in 2021 (as pictured above by Guleed), so this is a very rare opportunity to catch them live.

Come be happy-to-be-sad with us, as we celebrate growth and change and moving on and above all, protecting your heart as Daisy models to us day in and day out 🫶

Join us for a magical evening as we kick off twenty-WWIMty-five in bittersweet style with a farewell set from @daisysanders28 and @laradorling as they sail off to lutruwita (Tasmania). They’ll be performing sound and movement alongside @anniikamoses (sound) and @pollittjoanna (improvised writing and projection!!).

Daisy and Lara work both collaboratively and separately – you might have seen Daisy’s long-gestating work A Resting Mess for City of Fremantle last year, or been to a Make-Shift Evening organised by Lara.

And – we’ll be treated to a set from WWIM co-founder @saskia.robin , who will be debuting tender ballads on the complexities of modern life, accompanied by @realjanestark.

Between sets will be a potluck dinner, so if you’re inclined you can bring food to share (and get discounted tickets too!).

See you in Transit! 🛩️

7-9pm Saturday 15 March.

Experimental music at Spectrum Project Space as part of 'Transports' my solo exhibition.

Jane Stark performs 'Music for snare drum, pure wave oscillator and one or more reflective surfaces' by Alvin Lucier (1933-2021).

I gave a realisation of my Photo Score, animated graphic notation based on abstract photography.

Come down to the gallery on Wednesday for the closing event, an Outcome Unknown concert co-presented with Mystery & Wonder. Featuring Djuna Lee, Annika Moses, the legendary musician Ross Bolleter in a rare public performance on accordion!
