This is just in! The Fairbuds XL has become the first pair of wireless headphones to score a 10/10 score on iFixit's repairability tests.

This is the first time the repair rights advocacy group has scored wireless headphones and the recently refreshed Fairbuds XL were the only ones in their initial testing group to achieve a perfect score!

To quote iFixit, "Tool-free battery replacement, a fully modular headband (the cushion, support structure, and crossover cable can each be swapped independently), USB-C connectors that enable awesome modularity, and Fairphone’s signature commitment to publishing useful documentation and selling real parts push these headphones to the top of iFixit's “would recommend” list.""

While there are over 60 raw materials that go into every smartphone, we focus on 23 'focus' materials that we can help us maximize the impact we have on the supply chain. This includes materials like gold, silver, cobalt, copper and more among others, with our teams mapping their presence in components and tracing the supply chain down to the mine or recycled source. As of 2025, we have achieved 100% visibility on final assemblies and their 80 direct suppliers, something we are very proud of.

Some of our Fairphone colleagues were in Portugal earlier this month, working on something very exciting. We can't tell you what it is (yet), but what we can do in the meantime is show off this beautiful photograph they clicked on the Fairphone (Gen. 6) of a gorgeous sunset by the beach. As you can see, the 50MP camera does a fantastic job balancing light and dark, highlighting details in the foreground while still showcasing the vivid oranges and yellows in the distance.

Our Living Wage Bonus Program is just one of the many things we do to make our tech fair.

These bonuses help bridge the gap between minimum wage and a livable salary. How does it work? We work with organizations such as the Wage Indicator Foundation to establish what a living wage should look like across countries, and we pay the difference to factory workers who work on Fairphone devices. Since the program's inception, we have paid out nearly USD$1.25M in bonuses, with $215,000 paid out in 2025 alone.

“Um, how do you make tech sustainable?”

We get asked this a lot when we tell people what Fairphone is all about. The answer isn’t a short one, though. Because there are a LOT of things we do at Fairphone to make sure our products are fairer to people and the planet.

We use fair and recycled materials in our devices, investing in mineral credits where needed to improve the lives and working conditions of miners. Did you know the Fairphone (Gen. 6) contains more than 50% fair and recycled materials by total weight?
We pay living wage bonuses to factory workers who assemble our phones and audio products to help earn a living wage. Since 2019, we have paid out close to USD$1.25M in living wage bonuses.
We make sure our products are built to last with award-winning modularity and industry-leading support periods. Every Fairphone since the Fairphone 2 has scored a perfect 10 out of 10 on iFixit’s repairability tests.
We make sure all our latest products are 100% e-waste neutral to make sure we are not adding to the global e-waste problem. Last year alone, we collected 30 tons of electronic waste for responsible recycling.
