Different teams, different approaches, one shared passion for robotics 🤖
One thing that stood out to me during the ABB RobotStudio®️ Cup Global Final was seeing how differently each team approached the exact same challenge.
➔ Some focused more on speed.
➔ Others on precision.
➔ Others on strategy and problem-solving under pressure.
And honestly, that’s what made the competition interesting to watch.
The event is based around RobotStudio®️, ABB Robotics’s simulation and offline programming software, where students work on real industrial robotics challenges in a virtual environment before anything goes into the real world.
But after spending the day following the teams behind the scenes, you realise very quickly that competitions like this are not only about technical skills.
It’s also about teamwork, communication, adapting quickly, and making decisions when things don’t go exactly as planned.

The 2026 ABB RobotStudio® World Cup has its winner! 🏆🎉🤖
Congratulations to Team Italy from @univaq.it Università degli Studi dell'Aquila 🇮🇹, crowned World Champion in Robotics Education!
Competing against top student teams from China, Spain, Czech Republic at yesterday’s final in Bergamo, Italy, they proved their ability by combining technical skills, problem-solving and precision under pressure.
Throughout the competition, teams tackled tasks inspired by real industrial scenarios, from parts sorting and precise palletizing to collision-free mobile route planning, all using ABB Robotics’ RobotStudio software and ABB IRB 1100 robot. What stood out wasn’t just performance, but the level of creativity, collaboration and determination shown by every team.
A big thank you to all participants for raising the bar, and to everyone who made this global final possible — Also the incredible ABB Robotics Team in Italy, who organized and hosted the competition.
The future of robotics is in good hands. 🦾
