Since Flip’s passing, the family has sold the property, but the legacy she left behind is unforgettable. Buddy Stewart’s Rock Shop was the heart of Baton Rouge’s music scene for nearly 50 years. Since Flip’s passing, the family has sold the property, but the legacy she left behind is unforgettable. Buddy Stewart’s Rock Shop was the heart of Baton Rouge’s music scene for nearly 50 years. Through Flip’s vast knowledge, I discovered the rich musical history of her family, particularly her father Buddy Stewart and uncle Roy Stewart who founded the legendary band, the Herculoids.

Flip also introduced me to Mr. Harvey Knox(RIP), the talented bass player for the Herculoids, The 13th Amendment Band and so many other incredible musicians from the late 60s to the 90s.

This place was my sanctuary, a treasure trove of records where I spent countless hours digging . Looking back, I’m beyond grateful for all those moments and the stories they hold.
