“I saw Kyiv again, as it was in the days of Maidan”. In the latest volumes of the WAR series, Oleksandr Glyadyelov found himself amid the rumble of rockets, one of which hit the children’s hospital OHMADIT in 2024.

“When I arrived there, I saw and started taking pictures of thousands of volunteers helping <…>. Thousands of people are working together, from all over Kyiv, streams of citizens, despite the danger of new rocket attacks, are going to OHMADIT with essentials.”

Together with Roots Gallery, we opened a new photo exhibition last week in Palermo: along with Veronica Barbato’s work, there was a very special project made by Arturo Russo—Alessandro.

A brief encounter on the way to Sicily brought Arturo to meet Alessandro—a humble, yet strangely magnetic person. Ever since the photographer would capture his life, with a permission of Alessandro, showing us different angles of such alluring personality.

Come to the Roots Gallery to discover the project and to flip the pages of the eponymous book, that is also available for sale. The exhibition is open until 23 of May🙌

Undefined outskirts as seen by the artist Stefanie Seufert in her book Periphery Constellations gives us a close look into the peculiar shapes and textures of residential areas and in-between zones of Palermo, Sicily.

Born during her artistic residency at 89books, Seufert‘s photographs tell of decay and care, of urban and economic realities, but also of the enigmatic beauty of the trivial, the seemingly everyday.

Such subjective portrait of the city, made in a series of Quaderno Palermo, also refers to a universal phenomenon—and reminds us, as if en passant, that it is important not to lose sight of the edges.
