Install day ✔️
Ever wonder how a 440 Gallery show gets installed? It’s a combination of curation, collaboration, drilling, cleaning and painting. Fred Bendheim: Music For My Eyes opens tomorrow, with an opening reception this Saturday, October 11, 4–6pm.
OUR TWO SHOWS run October 9 through November 9:
• Fred Bendheim, Music for My Eyes, a solo exhibition of abstract paintings and sculpture.
• In the Project Space: Framing the View, a group show of work by Leigh Blanchard, Joy Makon, Catherine Orrok, Janet Pedersen

Need some music to go along with the art? We love that Leigh Blanchard has shared her playlists—music that she listened to while creating the work for “Meet Me Underwater.” Says Leigh, “A lot of these songs directly inspired the pieces, with lyrics making their way into artwork titles and even into the work itself.”
The links in our bio have Leigh’s Spotify and YouTube Music playlists. Leigh will be at the gallery on Saturday, May 23, noon to 3pm to talk more about her work and how the art in her show came about.
We’re open Thursday through Sunday this week.
Our two shows run through May 24, 2026
“Meet Me Underwater” a solo show by Leigh Blanchard.
“Drawing the Line” a group show by Jo-Ann Acey, Catherine Orrok and Janet Pedersen.

“These pieces do not resolve the contradictions they hold, says Leigh Blanchard. “Instead, they remain in tension: comfort and unease, autonomy and limitation, understanding and misinterpretation. This show is both a reflection of personal transformation and an exploration of how identity is shaped within broader social and political frameworks.”
Stop by the gallery this week to discover how this collection of photographs and mixed-media images reveal one artist’s recent personal exploration.

Then, please join us for our monthly Artists Talk at 4:40pm. Moderated by Jon Bunge, this afternoon’s talk centers on the inspiration and processes that each artist brings to their work. There will be time, also, for the audience to make comments and ask questions.

I put together a playlist of some of the music I listened to while creating the work for Meet Me Underwater 🌊 A lot of these songs directly inspired the pieces, with lyrics making their way into artwork titles and even into the work itself.
You can listen on Spotify and YouTube Music through the links in my bio (@leigh.blanchard) 🎶
