Trip home to Chicago was very nice indeed. Best friends in the best city. Only mistake was ordering the burger at Gretel cooked rare without realizing it was a thin patty burger. That one was on me.

Hembree’s debut record House on Fire is seven years old today! Which means only three more years until we can cash in our nostalgia 10 year anniversary tour. We’re all proud of this record and hope you still enjoy it as much as we do. Here’s flashback photos to simpler times.

Q1 Burger Report: That’s a lotta meat!
1/ Still dreaming about Dandelion Burger in Copenhagen.
2-3/ Hermon’s, Highland Park: soubise fondue, bordelaise onions, dijon, sesame milk bun. Eastside LA has a new contender for best burgie now that Dunsmoor has removed their legendary burger from the menu. Savory and rich with a French Dip flavor profile. Super soft bun with the right amount of chew.
4/ Hermon’s again. We keep going back.
5/ Marvito, West Hollywood. 10oz patty, cheddar cheese, lettuce and a slice of raw onion on a sesame seed bun. The burger is solid, but the vibe and chicken piccata are the stars of this lively Mexican spot.
6-7/ Doto, Silver Lake: comte, caramelized onions, pickle aioli, sesame potato bun. The creamy, savory comte cheese and caramelized onions make this quite a rich dish. I had to take a nap afterwards.
8/ The Holloway, Echo Park: Sometimes grandpa fires up the backyard grill and overcooks the hell out a burger. And I think I mean that somehow as a compliment?
9/ Checker Hall, Highland Park: lamb, mint slaw, feta, pickled onion, house bun, fries, with added anchovies.
10/ Arroyo Club, Highland Park: Double patty angus chuck, house spread, pickles, American cheese on toasted brioche. Arroy Club has become a favorite bar in the neighborhood with a consistently killer smashburger.
11/ Penny’s Burgers, Highland Park: A neighborhood classic. Looks and tastes like a Sonic cheeseburger, and that’s alright by me.
12/ Little Beast, Eagle Rock: dry aged prime beef, tomato onion jam, lettuce, 1000 island, house pickles, cheddar. An awesomely messy burger that reminds me of Rootstock in Chicago – an all-timer. I request this one cooked rare like a psycho.
13/ Petit Ermitage, West Hollywood: A super elevated Wendy’s Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger. Solid burgie made even better by the beautiful rooftop view.
14/ For The Win, Alhambra, CA: A classic smash.
15/ Austin’s house, Alhambra, CA: Sometimes the best burger is the one your bro cooks up at a moment’s notice.

Da Hembryos have been hard at work in the studz writing and recording the next record, but we’re taking a recording break to play in Malibu on February 7. It’s our birthday weekend so we’ll be in exceptionally high spirits though we’re still reeling in shock that “F1” is nominated for best picture, “Weapons” is not, and “Eddington” seems to have been largely forgotten.

Here are pretty images for your eye holes, photographed for “Low Tempo, High Times,” my debut record as Significant Brother.
I’m proud of these tunes and endlessly thankful for everyone who has taken time to listen.
Don’t stare too long or you’ll go blind.
More tunes coming soon. And that’s a threat.

It’s The Noise FM’s annual roundup of our favorite tunes of the year!
Link in bio or on The Noise FM’s Spotify page. Yes, Austin & I are still on Spotify (for now) so feel free to recreate our playlist in your streaming app of choice.
You’re dang right we’re including songs from Significant Brother, Hembree, and Archie Powell & The Exports – Austin and I played on these tracks after all!
We also considered just including the entirety of Wet Leg’s “moisturizer” but that would have been too easy.
We hope you find something new in this collection of lo-fi rockers, pop dancers and funk tunes.
What did we miss? What were your fave records and tunes of 2025??

Merry Christmas, y’all! For nine years The Noise FM hosted Noise 4 Toys benefit concerts in Chicago, Lawrence, and Kansas City to collect toys and donations for Toys For Tots. These were always our favorite shows of the year with our best friends and favorite bands.
We encourage everyone to support and donate to your local Toys for Tots organization if possible.
We’ve been toying (hey-o!) with bringing back Noise 4 Toys — see you in 2026…?

Merry Christmas, y’all! For nine years The Noise FM hosted Noise 4 Toys benefit concerts in Chicago, Lawrence, and Kansas City to collect toys and donations for Toys For Tots. These were always our favorite shows of the year with our best friends and favorite bands.
We encourage everyone to support and donate to your local Toys for Tots organization if possible.
We’ve been toying (hey-o!) with bringing back Noise 4 Toys — see you in 2026…?

Peeling back the layers of the “Corner of My Eye” lyric video. Shot 10 takes on a Lumix GH5 using 50mm and 85mm lens from various angles and edited in Adobe Premiere. The original concept was to have like 5 or 6 of these unique videos playing on various TVs and projector screens in our living room so anywhere the camera panned would be my distorted face watching you from the corner of my eye (hey-o!). But this 1 video took way too long to edit, and I’m knee-deep in Arc Raiders on PS5 so I JUST DON’T HAVE THE TIME!
Full vid on YouTube.
