We’re continuing our open call series — a monthly invitation to explore our typefaces through posters!

Each month, we pick a typeface, share a special trial version of it, and suggest a topic for posters featuring the font. At the end of the month, we summarize the results and post the works we especially like on our social media and website.

This month’s typeface is Maregraphe Mega (Compressed & Extended) by @cstmfonts

The (simple) topic is: Ok.

Interpret it however you like. Any language supported by the typeface is welcome.

Send your posters to inuse@type.today and don’t forget to include your social media handle in the email!

To get the font file, follow the link in bio!

Yesterday we launched Type Physics, an audiovisual tool for animating variable fonts!

Type Physics offers two interaction scenarios. The first, Physics +, is perfect for experimenting at the intersection of physics and typography. The second, Variable +, is designed for finely tuned animation of variable fonts — which might come in handy, say, for type designers setting up visuals for their font releases.

You can animate using a variable font from the @type.today and @tomorrow.type.today collections, or upload a typeface from your own computer. Still images can be exported as PNG, and animations can be recorded as video directly within the tool.

Type Physics was developed by @burou3_ (@timur_zima × @atoraye_), with support from the type.today font shop.

→ Check the link in our stories to try it out.

Welcome to Type Physics — an audiovisual tool for creating animations with variable fonts (but not only)!

Type Physics is a web editor that couples animation with sound design. Make individual glyphs, words, or entire paragraphs jump, rotate, or fall apart — driven by gravity, chaos, or the movement of a variable font axis. Sound isn’t a separate layer here: it’s part of the system. Collisions between characters, shifts along a variable axis — all of it shapes the audio in real time.

You can make animations using any variable font from the type.today collection, or upload a font from your computer. The final image can be exported as a PNG, and the animation can be recorded as a video right within the tool.

Type Physics was developed by @burou3_ (@timur_zima × @atoraye_), with support from @type.today.

Gregory by @typemates is a collection of four typefaces — one serif, three sans serifs and a slab serif.

The serif, Gregory Poster, echoes the quirkiness of vintage book cover lettering. It embraces an enticing mix of spiky and soft qualities across all styles, from Thin to XBold.

The sans serifs — Gregory Grotesk, Gregory Grotesk Condensed, and Gregory Grotesk Compressed — reimagine wood type printing, bringing a handmade patina to otherwise sterile digital environments. Together, they form a quirky system of 24 individual styles, all united in a single, agile Variable Font with weight and width axes.

The Slab Serif, Gregory Poster, a family 7 weights, prefers home touches and obvious ink-traps to ‘rational’ geometry. The family’s warmth is reflected in its chunky, softly-curved serifs and square-ish, doughy countershapes; and even in its more-delicate lighter weights.

The Gregory collection supports Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek scripts. Each typeface includes multiple sets of numerals, arrows, and even a set of emojis.

We’re launching a series dedicated to typography-related shopping around the world — a selection of bookshops, studios, and small galleries where a designer might find something for themselves. For each city, we asked a type or graphic designer who lives there and whose taste we trust to share their recommendations.

Today’s guide is by Edgar Walthert, co-founder of the typographic Mastodon instance and organizer of Letterspace Amsterdam, and it’s about Amsterdam!

This is Halvar by @typemates in practice.

It’s not only built to be flexible, but technical. Apart from the SuperSlanted, all its font styles are multiplexed — a word in one Halvar’s roman or italic widths will occupy the same space regardless of weight—allowing for fine work in annual reports, interface design, or anywhere space is at a premium and the demands of reflow, rollover and animation need to be considered.
