For the debut event of his 2026 Process residency, NYC's SPRKLBB is inviting Canadian mainstay Ciel to join him in the booth for a night of innovative club rhythms.

A few words from SPRKLBB:

I grew up on the dance floor in Portland; every Saturday at the infamous all-ages venue, The Escape. It was there that I lost my mind to the twisted beats of the late DJ Scooter, stapled roses to Jinx Monsoon, and memorized the drums to Peaches, Junior Vasquez, Hex Hector, and Miss Kittin. I love coming back to play in the city that shaped my dreams, and I’m in awe of the PNW scene that is carving out such a unique vision for the future of dance culture. I’m thrilled to be back next month as a resident of Process, one of the best nightclubs in the US today.

For my nights at Process, I’ll be tapping that spirit to invite artists who are forging distinctive paths in this community, both on and off the dance floor. These are people who have changed my life with their friendship and music.

My first guest is Ciel, a prolific producer and a sharp player who makes music from a complexly personal place. In the studio she continues to expand her deep catalog, which includes the award-winning LP Homesick, as well as numerous EPs. In these projects she builds vivid soundscapes that touch on memory and ancestry, sometimes with the use of traditional Chinese instruments. In the club she layers beats with sharp precision, working them down into tech-forward grooves. Ciel is a player who braids music with tension while constantly refining and tuning, an artist who exemplifies DJing as live performance.

And in the world, Ciel is a caring friend and outspoken voice. She is unafraid to speak loudly and ask questions, not just of the world and scene around us, but also of herself.

It’s truly an honor to welcome Ciel to Portland for her Process debut.

It takes 10 years…

That’s what @djvolvox told me on the roof of Taffee, after the first time I booked her. And what a disaster that was! My party had lost its venue and I ran myself into the ground trying to save it. I lost $10K that summer. Still in college, subletting my own bedroom cause I couldn’t afford my rent.

Ari, one of the things I will always cherish about you is how kind to me you have been since. That’s the real shit, that’s when you know the music is deeper than good. 

I met @rachelnoondj through Ari, must be 10 years we’ve discussed a b2b? Sunday was well worth the wait. Our first time dropping records, but we knew it would be perfect. The sound of friendship transcends style and genre. You are a friend for life. 

@leonce , you are living in your own musical world. I’ll never forget that LA show we played together, the night we first met. You jumped on all 4 of those decks. What you are capable of doing live is unlike anything else. That was the night I knew I needed more turntables.

@epicvirgomoment and @eva.loveless you’ve had a hot summer. I need to thank all our friends for sending me your way. I’m excited for your sound, and I’m thrilled we got to support your momentum. I can’t wait to see your evolution, the art your making in the years to come. <3

And if it isn’t already obvious, this party would be nothing without @itsbenjamin . You’ve helped me love all of this again. We built this party on relationships, and each one feels like proof to the approach. @spaghettistrapny is our shared work, but you were the one who really saw what it could be. This year has been crazy, I can’t wait to see where we are in 10 more.

That’s what @djvolvox told me on the roof of Taffee, after the first time I booked her. And what a disaster that was! My party had lost its venue and I ran myself into the ground trying to save it. I lost $10K that summer. Still in college, subletting my own bedroom cause I couldn’t afford my rent.

Ari, one of the things I will always cherish about you is how kind to me you have been since. That’s the real shit, that’s when you know the music is deeper than good. 

I met @rachelnoondj through Ari, must be 10 years we’ve discussed a b2b? Sunday was well worth the wait. Our first time dropping records, but we knew it would be perfect. The sound of friendship transcends style and genre. You are a friend for life. 

@leonce , you are living in your own musical world. I’ll never forget that LA show we played together, the night we first met. You jumped on all 4 of those decks. What you are capable of doing live is unlike anything else. That was the night I knew I needed more turntables.
