A powerful day for documentary storytelling at Cannes!
American Documentary is honored to serve as a major partner for this year’s Doc Day at @cannes.docs, a global gathering dedicated to celebrating the impact, innovation, and future of documentary film. Throughout the day, filmmakers, industry leaders, producers, funders, and creatives from around the world came together for conversations centered on bold storytelling, artistic collaboration, and the evolving documentary landscape.
As part of the program, our Executive Director @dildaydoc joined The Harlem Talks panel alongside filmmaker David Greaves and producer Liani Greaves to discuss Once Upon a Time in Harlem and the extraordinary legacy of filmmaker William Greaves. The conversation explored intergenerational storytelling, archival preservation, and the importance of safeguarding Black cultural histories through documentary film.
American Documentary was also proud to present the AmDoc Award to Chilapa’s Girl during Doc Day, recognizing the film’s compelling storytelling and powerful artistic vision. We’re honored to support filmmakers whose work challenges, inspires, and expands the possibilities of documentary cinema.
We’re proud to help create and support spaces like Doc Day that champion documentary filmmakers, foster international collaboration, and amplify.

AmDoc is headed to Cannes Docs, this year for the first time as a cohort!!
Executive Director & ExecutiveProducer, Erika Dilday, VP of External Affairs, Cecilia Mejia, America ReFramed Series Director, Carmen Vincencio, and yours truly.
Come see our panel on Tuesday, May 19th, "Harlem Talks," 3:20-4:10 pm, at the Marché du Film’s Main Stage, inside the Palais des Festivals

We’re back in the office and it feels like the best kind of “full circle” moment!
Last week marked the return of our in-house Behind the Lens filmmaker interview shoot, our first time bringing filmmakers back into the space after a few years of virtual production.
There’s always been a special kind of buzz when filmmakers walk through the door, conversations unfolding in real time, and the entire office shifting into creative gear. Seeing that come alive again reminded us why this series has always felt so central to what we do.
Huge thanks to the filmmakers who joined us and to the team who helped bring the space back to life.
This is just the beginning, keep an eye out for more behind-the-scenes moments in the coming weeks!
