We’re pleased to announce ‘梦游 Sleepwalker’, the debut EP from SY3 — a new project from LA-based Chinese-American artists Kelly Guan, Alex Ho, and Phil Cho. 
 
Formed in 2023 through a shared love of Hong Kong New Wave cinema, Cantonese pop, r&b, and melody-driven dance music, SY3’s songs balance intimacy with a vivid cinematic sensibility. 
 
Lead single ‘Tell Me’ is out now digitally. Drawing on hazy downtempo pop and early-2000s references, the track was the first to catch our ears, setting the tone for an EP that unfolds as a series of nocturnal pop vignettes shaped by memory, cinema, and place. 
 
‘梦游 Sleepwalker’ is available for pre-order now via the Music From Memory website and Bandcamp. Single ‘Tell Me’ is available to stream on all major platforms. 
 
Full release out March 25 — digitally and on vinyl.

Over the years, Cruz’s music has remained fluid and constantly shifting, a characteristic that closely matches his thrilling DJ sets which effortlessly move between genres and rhythms from around the world. While most of his sets these days lean towards techno, electro, bass, and club sounds, his sets back home in Quito remain deeply infused with the traditional roots music — salsa, son, cumbia, merengue, folk — of his hometown.

In advance of their forthcoming release of MFM, La-based trio SY3 step into the mix series with a selection that moves through ambient, downtempo, trip hop and club-leaning moments, reflecting the wider world surrounding their music.
