Mona souhaite investir ses sentiments, ses illusions et ses déductions dans des productions basées sur la réalité vécue. « Quand je marchais dans certains quartiers anciens du Caire, je ne cessais d’imaginer comment des maisons, à moitié détruites, pourraient être reconstruites. J’imaginais parfois même si l’Egypte avait continué à avoir de l’architecture pharaonique ou gréco-romaine, mais dans une optique moderne. Si je ne peux pas réaliser ceci dans la réalité, je voudrais le faire, un jour, à travers mes projets ».
Parfois, elle rêve en partie de sa création en dormant, et elle se réveille pour noter ce qu’elle a visionné pendant son sommeil et essaye de recomposer le puzzle dans sa tête. « Je commence habituellement par comprendre le concept ou le script et j’analyse sa philosophie, son histoire, ses émotions, son influence sociale et d’autres aspects. Ensuite, je commence mes recherches et je communique clairement avec l’équipe pour m’assurer que nous sommes tous sur la même longueur d’onde ».
