What a wild ride it’s been. Here’s Nov 1 from 2025 back to 2021 less than 24 hours sober, and preparing for my trip to rehab. Rehab seemed like such a dirty word, and the place you go if you have nothing left. I didn’t feel like I had lost everything, BUT I knew it was time to make a change. I spent 3 weeks inpatient + many weeks in a follow up program via zoom. I will not sit here and tell you life is perfect, but man, getting sober is one of the best things I have ever done.
If you are ever struggling, or just watch to chat about sobriety, never hesitate to reach out. I’m not here to judge, and I may not have all of the answers, but I know many people that know more than me!

Coree Woltering, the newest addition the the Merrell Trail Team in 2024.
Coree, @coreewoltering, has pushed the boundaries from setting the fastest known time on the Ice Age Trail to competing in the Eco Challenge Fiji 2019.
We are excited to hit the trail and achieve new heights together.

I haven’t posted anything about the Ice Age Trail FKT, because I really have not had time to digest it yet. I am still waking up in the morning with a sense of urgency that I am late getting out on the trail. After doing something for 21 days, it just becomes a new normal, but now that normal is gone. Sleeping is weird, eating is weird, and not being active for 12-20+ hours a day is weird. With that said, on June 1, I set out to set an FKT on the Ice Age Trail. On June 22 at 8:35pm, I crossed the finish line.21 days, 13 hours, 35 minutes for a new FKT. Thank you to all that followed along and supported in different ways. @runrevel Reno Tahoe weekend is coming on May 17th and there’s still time to plan your trip. There’s a Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10km. Come get that Boston qualifier!

@sandnesultratrail 100. Another DNF. I’m not shocked, just frustrated. I love being outside and moving through nature. For the past couple years, I’ve been dealing with various degrees of sciatica flare ups from, “ehhh, this is fine,” and able to finish multiple 200+ mile races, to dropping out of an 8k road race 🤷🏿♂️ I seem to be able to manage it for the daily ~1 hour runs, but really can’t do the things I love. And that’s okay. I am realizing that start lines are cool, but I’m really in it for the experience and adventure. In the quest for different qualifiers (States, Hardrock, etc) and checking boxes, it can be so hard to know when it’s time to take a step back, or keep pushing.
I have been competing in sports for almost 30 years, (and believe there are still good years ahead), sometimes that means taking a step back. What does that look like? I’m not quite sure. There are a few races this year that are super exciting (to me), and then 🤷🏿♂️

@sandnesultratrail 100. Another DNF. I’m not shocked, just frustrated. I love being outside and moving through nature. For the past couple years, I’ve been dealing with various degrees of sciatica flare ups from, “ehhh, this is fine,” and able to finish multiple 200+ mile races, to dropping out of an 8k road race 🤷🏿♂️ I seem to be able to manage it for the daily ~1 hour runs, but really can’t do the things I love. And that’s okay. I am realizing that start lines are cool, but I’m really in it for the experience and adventure. In the quest for different qualifiers (States, Hardrock, etc) and checking boxes, it can be so hard to know when it’s time to take a step back, or keep pushing.
I have been competing in sports for almost 30 years, (and believe there are still good years ahead), sometimes that means taking a step back. What does that look like? I’m not quite sure. There are a few races this year that are super exciting (to me), and then 🤷🏿♂️

I don’t get nervous to race anymore, and honestly a lot of it feels like just going through the motions. Enter @sandnesultratrail After multiple cancelled flights, I’ve made it to Norway to attempt to finish a 100 mile race: no crew, no pacers, a new (to me) country, and the weather looks “fun.” I have had a rough couple years of lingering injuries, but I am feeling good enough to start, and excited for the challenge 💪🏿 I have always enjoyed longer races, because it’s a lot of problem solving on the go, and a finish is never guaranteed. On a race like this, you have to want it, because you could potentially be out there for 2 sunsets and 2 sunrises, but you’re never that far away from a warm, dry hotel room 😅 8:00am Friday is just one sleep away 🕺🏿

I mean, if you’re going to DNF, Big Alta is a beautiful place to do it. I was actually enjoying the 50k, but had a nice sciatica flare up…on a freakin’ uphill (that’s new for me). I have been dealing with this for 2+ years, mainly on speed and downhills, but I have been really good at keeping it mostly under control. There are some days this all feels super defeating, but I also for the most part, I feel that good days are still coming. We’ll get there!🕺🏿
