~Therapy for your Finances~ ππ©΅βοΈ
Accountant @abcdinamo
your fav berlin-based business consultant for the creative industry ;)

Doing business on your own can sometimes feel like the hardest part β especially when deeper questions come up and thereβs no one to reflect them with. Thatβs why I love creating spaces where people like @softdrivefoundry can pause, think aloud, and turn their thoughts into structure.
@softdrivefoundry is a newly started type foundry at the intersection of design and code. In a 4-hour workshop, we went through their finances and operational setup, defined focus, and mapped next steps. Watching someone move from βIβm not sure if Iβm doing this rightβ to βOkay, I see it now in the numbers and this makes senseβ never gets old for me! βΊοΈπ©΅π
Thank you for the trust and for letting me be part of it right from the start!

Last month, I spent time with my long-term friends from the architecture studioΒ @supertypegroup looking at the financial side of their practice.
Like many creative studios, they create high impact work with limited resources (theyβre even nominees for the German Architecture Prize this year! π±). But the unpredictable rhythm of architecture projects and the complexity of coordinating with external partners are real challenges.Β Having your financial numbers in order isnβt just helpfulβitβs essential!
Throughout the workshop we looked at different aspects of their business and pinnedΒ who takes the lead in which areaβparticularly important in their three-person founding team.
My favorite part is always that moment when everything clicks (βAHA!β) and people see how these seemingly annoying structures and processes actually create space for more creativity, not less.
Try it, itβs cozy here! π

Cali @infinite__sky is a yoga teacher and astrologer who has been building a freelance practice for over 10 years.
Now Cali is ready to take the next step and for this we sat down and did what I love most: turn feelings into actual numbers (sorry for being so practical here π
)
We looked at the operational side of the business, including those admin questions that tend to pile up in the background and often stir up the most confusion (Cali calls this βthe Shellβ π how cute is that?). We mapped every income stream, from yoga classes to astrology readings, and figured out what each one actually brings in, how much time it takes, and where the potential is right now.
Thank you Cali (and Reishi the cat) for your trust and the cozy setting! β¨

You asked, I answered.
So, letβs break it down.
Revenue, Turnover, Umsatz: They all mean the same thing. Itβs the total value of everything you sold in a period. Before costs. Before taxes. Before your Figma subscription.
Three client projects at 2kβ¬ each in one month? Thatβs 6kβ¬ in revenue.
But hereβs where it gets interesting. You invoiced 6kβ¬ in March, but the client pays in May. Your revenue? 6kβ¬. Your cash? Still zero.
Letβs be clear:
Revenue answers: how much did I sell?
Profit answers: what is actually left?
Cash answers: what is actually in my bank account?
Stop confusing them. Your business will thank you. β¨

For those of you who donβt know me yet:
Iβm Vanessa and I help creative founders feel more secure running their business. Not by overwhelming them with frameworks or jargon, but by sitting down together, looking at the numbers, and making sense of them.
Some call it consulting. I call it βtherapy for your financesβ.
Iβve been doing this since 2018 and the questions I get asked most are always the same:
Am I actually doing okay? Are my projects profitable? Where does all my money go?
If any of that sounds familiar donβt hesitate to reach out.
