I had a somewhat pedestrian idea of what activism meant (a hazy image of placards, strongly-worded tweets or elaborately-designed infographics etc.) before I worked on this story and spent a few weeks speaking with, listening to and mulling over the lives of these three women.

Kirsten, Constance and Tammy (all so different, all so powerfully inspiring) have changed my view permanently on what dedicating your life to something bigger than yourself means. Truthfully, the level of sacrifice demonstrated by them is something I could never aspire to, and it is a great honour for me just to be able to bring their stories to life in our September issue. Thank you ladies for trusting us and giving us your time and baring your souls. This project goes straight to the top of the list of life-affirming, ultimate bucket list stories I will cherish till the end.

all my literary dreams have come true 🥹 introducing Vogue Dialogues, a new video series celebrating Asian female writers driving change for good with their powerful voices. @pnansi is our inaugural subject and for good reason. no one—and i truly mean no one—is doing it like her. pooja has been a longtime idol of mine (from long before meeting her) and she proves why in this video, which is painfully hilarious and painfully wise all at once. to be able to profile you in our pages has been one of the best (and most stressful) experiences of my writerly life.

this project is a culmination of 4 years spent building a space for literature and poetry at Vogue, and I’m so so grateful for all the support and faith I’ve had along the way. books have brought me so much joy since i was a little kid and today they are the vessels of knowledge and perspective that i trust most to shape the way i think. writers like Pooja have been fundamental in making me who i am and i hope that in time to come, this series will introduce you to some books, poems and literary voices that will resonate deep in your soul.

today was my last day at my first ever job ! in 2020, i joined @voguesingapore’s launch team with an opportunity that i was sure was a dream i would wake up from any moment. in the time since, i’ve had the privilege to do countless stories platforming the people and things i care most about, stories that i truthfully think mattered in one way or another. i’ve put my heart on the page so many times (the crazy grid on slide 2 captures just a few examples) and it never got old or felt less energising.

thank u to the amazing team (new n old) for the friendship and passion we have shared over 5 years, for being a second home and allowing me to become the editor n writer i am today. to all the incredible folks from the industry i’ve met over the years, i’m so grateful for the meaningful work we have been able to do together. will see everyone, in a new chapter, very soon 🌷🤍

Still stunned that I had the opportunity to host this unbelievable fireside chat with the one and only @amandangocnguyen - author, astronaut and one of the most revolutionary activists of our time. 🤯 It’s such a true privilege to have been in conversation with Amanda about how she’s transformed life-altering trauma into radical hope and action.

With her civil rights organisation @risenow.us, she has helped pass over 114 laws around the globe protecting survivor rights - starting with the landmark Sexual Assault Survivors’ Rights Act, which passed unanimously through the US Congress. Oh and also… she’s an astronaut?! On her first space flight (which made her the first Vietnamese woman to have conquered 🚀), she conducted bioastronautics experiments in service of women’s health. So… basically a lifetime of achievements crammed into 33 years of life. Did I mention her bestselling memoir?

Vogue Dialogues is back for its second year 🥹 With none other than the brilliant mind behind the novel of the moment, @jemmawei. It’s difficult to believe that The Original Daughter is Jemimah’s debut b/c it’s so breathtaking and holds such deep wisdom. But her decade-long journey to the novel reveals a truly monumental effort (across oceans) and just how much heart she has packed into this story. Jemimah is one of the kindest, most genuine people I’ve met in the industry and I couldn’t be more truly happy for all love and support she has received on this launch - and I rly rly rly cannot wait to see what she does next!!!! 🤧🖤

my grand aunt whom i haven’t seen in years came to visit my grandma and it was like looking into an alternative life. they’re only a year apart (my grandma is older) and resemble each other so closely - my grand aunt even says they used to be mistaken as twins when they were younger. it was bizarre watching her move around, almost like seeing a clone of my grandma who was still able bodied and physically independent. it launched me into a spiral of what ifs (what if she hadn’t fallen what if i had been there what if i had grown up by her side what if she hadn’t had to live alone for so long). but i was able to push those feelings away for a moment because seeing them talk also made me realise that inside of this 89 year old woman still lives a young girl. she came out for a second when my grand aunt made a joke about her wedding and my grandma blushed. nearly 70 years after her actual wedding day! i’ve known her for as long as i’ve existed and i am so lucky to still get to learn more and more things about her. would not trade this afternoon for the world
